Community Pool

The place for feedback, advice, and friendly blogging chatter.

Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Are you redesigning your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?

The Community Pool is for peer feedback and advice. Looking for more specific information? Check out some of these resources:

Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).

Looking for free, self-guided courses to help you get started with your blog (or revive a dormant one)? Check out our current offerings at Blogging U.

To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips you might find useful:

  • While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
  • The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once!
  • If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
  • We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother.
  • Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
  • To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.
  • If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
  • No running on the deck.

Are you a new blogger looking to share your very first post? We have a special forum for bloggers just like you in our weekly First Friday posts.

  1. Hello,
I am somewhat new here (maybe a week old) I just wanted to ask for a help. So I thought community pool would be the right place. If you like, check out my site and please tell me, what should I do with my footer text widget? I mean what should I write. I know you can add text link and whatever but I just want to get an idea what should I really write there and what type of link I should add there and how.
Check out my site, feedback is highly appreciated. I would love your suggestion regarding anything in my site (layout, content and anything)
    Thank you so much!
    Have a wonderful day!

    1. Some possibilities for your text widgets are a link to a favorite web or blog site, a favorite quote, or an interesting fact about a topic you have covered in some of your posts. It would be nice to see a few words on your About page to tell us the purpose of your site. https://gracelead.co

    1. There is a downward arrown right below the publish button. If you click on it.. You can schedule your post untill when you want it to post it. That what i do most of the time. Hope this was helpful. 🙂

    2. If you mean, can you write content for posts in a word processor software and then cut and paste that into your WordPress posts, yes, you can. Be aware that the font you use in your wordprocessor will not carry over to WordPress. It will convert fonts to whatever you have set up as your default font in WordPress. Also you’ll need to handle any tables or diagrams as separate items to store in your Media file. https://gracelead.co

    3. I’m not familiar with Open Office. In general, type your post content into your word processor and leave that window open so you can select the text. Open WordPress and begin to create a Post. Select the text from your wordprocessor and copy it into the post text area. https://gracelead.co

    1. Your post was positive and encouraging. There was some redundancy in your opening, but overall, the post flowed well and was easy to read. I clicked on your About page, but it did not open. I like to read people’s About pages to see what the purpose of their blog site is. https://gracelead.co

  4. Hi! I’m new to the pool, but not really new to blogging, since I’ve been writing around here for some months now. Anyway, I thought I’d give this a try too, since it seemed like a good opportunity to get some feedback.

I think my major struggle is the theme choice, since I am a little picky; I like black text on white background, but I also like to have something behind that too—a wallpaper, pfft. Also, I suspect my browser refuses to display some of the themes properly (I fail to see the “read more” tag on some posts, for the Nuclear theme. And same goes for the Button theme—which I liked a lot too.), unless… you know the problem comes from the settings area. (Welp!) So yeah, I guess, some general kind of feedback on the blog’s looks and navigation would do. (If you wanna take a look at the posts, I’ll be grateful for that too! ;-; )

    Thanks!

      1. Thank you – I hope to use this with a few friends in a writing group. I was just interested in seeing what other writers thought or if it could help writers struggling to write
