First Friday

New blogger? Welcome! Share a link to your first post, say hello to some other new faces, and find your first few readers.

For other help:
If you’re not new and are looking for support or feedback, the Community Pool is the place for you!

For technical questions, visit the WordPress.com Support Forums.

To learn more about blogging, take a Blogging U. course.

To find, copy, and paste your link:
Head to your blog’s home page — not your dashboard, your blog itself. Click on the title of your post to open the individual post.

Highlight and copy the URL you see in your browser’s address bar, and paste the entire URL into a comment here.

Welcome to First Friday, a weekly open thread where any new blogger can share a link to his or her very first post with the larger WordPress.com community. To share your first post with us, copy and paste the link right into a comment here. If you’re not new, you can still be a part of First Fridays: visit a link or two, and leave the blogger a like or comment.

Please don’t use this as a space to share your first post…. that you published three years ago; ditto for simply sharing your latest post. Posts should have been published within the last month, and should be your first post. We’ll remove other posts to keep this space focused for new bloggers.

We ask that you help us keep this space focused by following a few additional guidelines:

  • We encourage anyone who shares a link to visit a few other bloggers. New readers for all!
  • When commenting, the third time is not the charm: don’t share the same link repeatedly, or in multiple First Friday threads. We’ll remove repeat posts.
  • Link directly to your new post, rather than to your blog generally — it makes it that much easier for folks to like the post or leave you comments.
  • Avoid repeated “Follow for a follow!” comments, or repeated comments that simply ask people to visit you. (Tip: if you’re trying to build a readership, it’s much more effective to leave substantive replies, or to visit and comment on individual bloggers.)
  • To keep from losing your place while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on links to open them in a new tab or window.

    1. Haha I can’t swim! I commend you for practicing! My husband looooves the water, so I always have to force myself to face my fears whenever we do activities on the water. I should take some lessons!

      1. You must try and learn, my husband tried to teach me but he did not know how. its better if you go to a Professional who knows what they are doing then you will be more relaxed. Good Luck

  1. Hello and welcome, new folks! We’re really excited to meet you.

As usual, I just want to remind everyone that we moderate the comments on First Friday pretty heavily — this is really a space for brand new people to introduce themselves and meet one another, and for others to welcome and support them. If you’re not here to either share your (recent) first post or leave a supportive comment, please head to the Community Pool, which is where any blogger can seek feedback on any aspect of blogging. And if you’re not sure what the guidelines here are, please read the above post — or just ask!

    Happy blogging, y’all:)

    1. Woops! I asked a question on my post today. How new is “new”? I’ve been posting for a few weeks. Is that too old for meeting people in First Friday posts?

      1. Per the post, we ask that (1) your blog be less than a month old and (2) that you not link to yourself in multiple First Friday threads — there are so many new folks joining every week that we try to keep this space focused on them.

    1. This is great! So informative! My skin is so sensitive that I can’t even wear foundation or powders at all! It’s been a lot of years of trial and error trying different products! I’m obsessed with Coconut Oil, though! For my skin and my hair. Would love to see more posts about natural skin care products!

      1. Thank you Kortkor2! I will certainly add a natural skincare post to SkinEdit! I have been using essential oils, jojoba oil, and aloe vera for my skin and plan to write about it by next week. Keep an eye out for it 😉

      1. Ugh, I know! It drives me crazy, too. I can’t find a better image right now (at least, an original one), and when I try to change the font color, it messes up other things. But I appreciate your feedback and I’m definitely working on it! 🙂

    1. I like your tagline but it gets lost in the grey of the image behind it. Would suggest either tweaking the transparency of the header image or making the font of the tagline darker.

    1. Welcome! FYI: that link goes to your dashboard, which is private, so people won’t be able to see your site. The simplest way to get the public link is to go to your blog’s main page and click on the post title. Then, copy the address you see in your browser’s address bar and use that. Here’s your site: http://blogsats.wordpress.com/

    1. Sure — if you read the First Friday post, you’ll see that we ask that (1) the links you share be to your first post, and that you not use this as a space to share your latest, especially if you’re already several posts into your blog and (2) we ask you not to share in multiple First Friday threads; there are so many new folks every week that we try to keep this space focused on them. Since that link wasn’t to your first post and you’d previously shared your blog in a First Friday thread, we removed it.
