Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Are you redesigning your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?
The Community Pool is for peer feedback and advice. Looking for more specific information? Check out some of these resources:
- Learn, a series of step-by-step tutorials for those just starting out.
- All our posts on building an audience and growing your traffic.
- If you’re stuck for inspiration, here are our Daily Prompts and other ideas for writing topics.
- A roundup of posts on blogging etiquette.
Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).
Looking for free, self-guided courses to help you get started with your blog (or revive a dormant one)? Check out our current offerings at Blogging U.
To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips you might find useful:
- While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
- The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once!
- If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
- We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother.
- Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
- To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.
- If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
- No running on the deck.
Are you a new blogger looking to share your very first post? We have a special forum for bloggers just like you in our weekly First Friday posts.

Hi, I think your layout is good and fits the type of posts you’re writing really well. Your posts are very insightful and well-written. The colours immediately caught my eye and were very affective. 🙂

HEY THERE!
We’ve all heard the saying ‘Wrong information spreads like wildfire.’ And to be quite honest, a lot of misinformation stems from the conversations teenagers have among themselves. Which is why, I’ve started The Teens’ Digest (https://theteensdigest.wordpress.com/about/). It’s going to be every teenager’s go-to website and I sincerely hope that it makes them aware in the right manner. Check it out!

Hello everyone! I would love some feedback on my most recent post. As an avid cyclist, I have been able to experience some amazing European towns. In this post I have attempted to capture the beauty and romanticism of such a place.
I would specifically like to know if you find my post readable, and if you are drawn in.
Thank you 🙂

Hi. Several of my latest posts are about DIY projects. I’m really concerned about infringing on copyright when using images that don’t belong to me. So far I’ve been sticking to using my own photos and public domain photos, and linking to others’ websites. But it would be really great to be able to show the original images I saw on Pinterest that inspired me. Does anyone have advice? Do I need to contact the image owners for permission?

I just checked out your site and I love it! I enjoy reading about DIY projects, even if I can’t accomplish them myself.
I think so long as you give credit for the images you’re okay, unless they are images that must be purchased for use (those have watermarks and/or will be blurry if you try to reproduce them without buying them.)
Good luck!

I love your posts, especially the DIY ones. I think it’s okay to use images which aren’t yours as long as you say that and give credit to who did take them. The reason for your blog name is also an awesome idea!

In case anyone else was wondering, an editor named Michelle W. helped me find the best answer, directing me to this post: https://wordpress.com/dailypost/2013/03/26/source-and-attribute/
In summary, you cannot just use and attribute any old image you want. Your use has to be within the bounds of the Creative Commons license (if the image has one). If it’s not clear if you can use it, have to ask the owner. Even non-commercial bloggers can be sued for copyright infringement.

So I’m not a new blogger but I started a new site to be a platform for the book I’m writing. It’s geared toward women and about issues for women (sorry, gentlemen.) My newest post is about what I learned from my divorce. https://balancelivebreathe.com/2016/06/30/what-i-learned-from-my-second-divorce/

Hi all,
My blog is focused on leaving the profession of teaching and my journey into a new career path. My latest update centers on the question “Why are people so angry about teaching even after they leave?” I pose a few thoughts about how identity plays into this anger.
I have been desperately looking for people to have guest interviews with. I’d love to interview people who are thinking of leaving teaching, people who have left teaching and are looking for jobs, people who have left teaching and are successfully in new careers, or people who were going to go into education but decided not to. I’m so surprised that nobody wants a chance to talk about their personal experiences with this!
My blog is intended as a resource for people who are on the fence about leaving and switching careers, so multiple perspectives would be so appreciated.
If you get a chance, please check it out and see if it is something you’d like to be a part of.

This is a fun little story. There were a couple of places that got confusing. For instance, “While exiled in the Quonset hut, occasionally Jose had to…” makes it sound like Jose was exiled in the Quonset hut. To make it clear, you could say, “While I was exiled in the Quonset Hut, Jose occasionally had to…” https://gracelead.co

Hi all. I was wondering if there are other bilingual bloggers out there that have a good solution to the whole headache of blogging in two languages? What I do now is write the post in two posts – one english and one norwegian – and then I link them both. Anyone know of a more elegant way of doing it?
Here is an example, as you see on top I have linked this english post to the norwegian post:

You might want to take a look at this support page — it explains three different ways to create a bi/multilingual site, and one of the might be along the lines of what you’re trying to achieve:

Hey y’all! I am new to the blogging world and wrote my first post today. I have gotten a few comments from friends but I know they’ll say it’s great no matter what. I’d really like some feedback on the post itself and how my blog as a whole makes you feel. I feel that it’s a bit boring but I’m afraid to add too much to take away from the point. What do you think?

Hey all, I have a travel blog that I am working on which I started it six months ago and now working to be more committed to it.
Question: What do you think of the tone and readability in my latest post? I’m also working on photo placement, my editor page doesn’t give me a lot of freedom in that area, suggestions? Thanks!

Hi Community Pool! I just posted another chapter of my ongoing ‘serial’ called “Neeka’s Story,” which is a tale set in a cyberpunk future about a half-elven girl who pilots small security UAVs (drones) by day and races them in an underground league by night, following the WP Discover Challenge for prompts.
I’d fallen way behind in posting in the last month, and this is a chapter from the middle of the story that had been giving me trouble so I skipped over it and wrote other scenes instead. But I’m pretty proud of how this one turned out, and I’d appreciate any feedback you’d like to give.
If you start in the middle of the story, with this new post Adventure, you might be lost, but you can start from the beginning by going to my page called Neeka’s Story, if you’re so inclined.
Thanks in advance for checking out my blog! If you have any feedback at all, for the layout, or graphics, or page scheme (I’m a WordPress newbie as of Jan 2016), please let me know!
Cheers,
Jamie Lyn Weigt
