Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Are you redesigning your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?

The Community Pool is for peer feedback and advice. Looking for more specific information? Check out some of these resources:

Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).

Looking for free, self-guided courses to help you get started with your blog (or revive a dormant one)? Check out our current offerings at Blogging U.

To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips you might find useful:

  • While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
  • The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once!
  • If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
  • We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother.
  • Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
  • To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.
  • If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
  • No running on the deck.

Are you a new blogger looking to share your very first post? We have a special forum for bloggers just like you in our weekly First Friday posts.

  1. Hello to every one!I am new here and created a blog at http://newts4adera.wordprsss.com
All I want for assistance is how to verify my site with googles using verification codes I.e for the simplest method possible. I tried for the Html file upload method but seems not to work for me as I am using only Android mobile. Any support I will welcome. Thank you again.

    1. I understand your post but it could be because I go through similar. I believe everyone does however some people seem to have more demons haunting them. I think the important thing is the writing is something others can relate to however I would like it more if you shared more on how to not fall backwards. I know you touched slightly on it. I enjoyed reading it and do really think a lot of people deal with the same thing but not everyone can talk of it. Gosh I hope this helps, keep writing!

    1. I enjoyed reading your blog! Full disclosure: I’m not really into poetry, so I skimmed that part, but I really liked your Disney tips, and the stories you shared in other posts!

  2. Okay, here is another question for you…I write blogs to help teach people about credit, mortgages, credit cards, buying a home etc. I have a hard time balancing in “being myself” and “being a educator.” I prefer to be silly self even though I write about things that are important but want to be taken seriously also. I am about to publish another page but thought if there is anyone else that struggles with this with their business I would love to hear their opinion. I have posted my link before and I am not really looking for help on it but rather to give you an example of what I am talking about, “being myself”. I believe I already know the answer, be myself because there are already so many banks etc with the same info but I try to be more like I am talking to a friend. Oh my, I better stop and just say please give me your opinion. Here is the same link. Thank you in advance!https://donnajefferson1.wordpress.com/about-donna-jefferson-2/is-it-okay-to-miss-a-credit-card-payment/

    1. I like the look of your site and the layout. On a book review, I like seeing a few reasons why you liked the book. I am unlikely to read a book because someone said they liked it; however, if they gave me 4 or 5 reasons they liked it, one of those reasons might resonate with me. https://gracelead.co

  3. Hi, all!
I’ve been blogging for a few months, and decided to try something new in my last few posts–asking a few thematic questions at the end of each post. I haven’t quite gotten the level of response I wanted… I was hoping to start a conversation in the comments section, but have gotten mostly crickets! I’d be grateful if someone could give me honest feedback about my questions. Are they too pointed? Do you think readers feel too pressured to write a comment, or to tailor their comment to a specific topic?
    Thanks for your help,
    ~Addie

    1. I looked at your latest post. The questions seemed reasonable. One thing you might try is to hint at the beginning that you will be asking for our opinion. Example: “I will share 5 things I do, but I am also interested in knowing how you handle it.” https://gracelead.co

    2. Maybe you could make the font of your questions a little bit bigger for better visibility, but I thought you had some really good meaningful comments from your readers.

  5. Hey party people,
So I just started a blog to document my experience as an advertising intern and I just write my first post. Kinda nervous about it– future employers will be seeing it. Would y’all mind checking it out and letting me know what you think? Feedback is crazy-appreciated!
AND I’ll return the favor, promise.
    Thank you!

    1. Hi!
First off, I suggest making an About page to introduce new people to you and your blog.
In terms of your writing, I find your posts short. Like you just stopped writing. They feel like little Facebook statuses, y’know? If that’s what you’re going for, then that’s fine, but my advice is to take advantage of the space you have to write more or explain more. You’re an intern but I know very little about what you actually do.
But what you have written is fun and I did enjoy it, so I’ll be keeping an eye out for more from you! Happy Blogging!

    1. I have to give myself Mondays and Thursdays only. I’ve got a job as it is (grad student, which means it’s highly variable), so I can’t really devote a lot of time. To make things more difficult, since my mission was to read the latest scientific research, I’m going to need more time for reading and understanding before writing anything about it. I just start with a lower frequency, something I know I can commit to right now, and the more time that can get freed up later (or I get really better at this), then I can reschedule to a more frequent schedule.

Also, I write a few days in advance. This way, I’ve always got something to post every Monday and Thursday.

    1. That’s a valiant attempt to describe love. It’s difficult for any of us to fully convey how it feels to us. Working on the grammar issues would make your post easier to read. For instance, “when I sad” should be “when I’m sad.” Also, what do you mean by “Feel like rainy”? Do you mean love feels rainy or do you mean that you feel like rain? https://gracelead.co

  6. Hi everyone, hope you are well.
We often post in community pool as we love hearing feedback and try and take on as much as we can.
Our blog is mainly about humanity and we look at problems faced by people around the world, but the blog started with the Genocide in Bosnia, because we were fortunate to visit with a charity.
Essentially we want to promote the idea of oneness and peace, please have a look at our blog if you have time.

Also check out one of our most recent pieces about Syrians living in refugee camps https://justiceforbosnia.wordpress.com/2016/05/20/endurance/

All feedback is welcomed and if you would like us to look at your blogs, please let us know.

    Thanks

    1. what an incredible blog. I had no real idea of what happened in Bosnia…oh I heard small news reports on the television and even read a few articles in a local paper but was unaware of the near total annihilation of a people. You brought me to tears with every post I read. here’s hoping your blog goes viral soon.

    1. “New found”, huh? We’ve been expecting you…start saving money for cons and cosplay…start following voice actors…there’s a lot of merch out there…*LOADING*

Anyway, nice use of imagery, just one fix: Anime is *East* Asian; Japanese in origin. Some may even argue that Anime is *strictly* Japanese or made by Japanese studios regardless of story (like Production I.G or Madhouse, whose work is not strictly Japanese), and all other countries use “anime-style.” When people think “South” Asian, that’s India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, and that general area (British people I’ve met particularly refer to this as South Asia).

BTW, could you check out my blog? I’ve just posted a new blog on solar cells and flowers: https://scicasual.wordpress.com/2016/06/30/energy-research-looks-rosy/

  10. Hey friends!

So I actually have more than one question here! My blogaversary is coming up this weekend! July 2nd! My blog is turning 2 already… and I just feel like maybe I need some help or encouragement into the right direction! It’s a baking blog, but I express myself a lot through humor and absurdist stories. I’m by not means a professional, I’m just self-taught at everything. I also have a full-time job, so I do this on the side.

    Most recent post: https://nutmegandwhiskey.wordpress.com/2016/06/19/the-sleepy-bitch-smores-bars/

Feel free to explore the blorg, comment here or anywhere. Honestly, any help is wonderful and I love you all already! Answer any or all of the questions. Either way, you da bomb. ❤

    1) Does my writing make sense? I feel like a ramble a lot, but as long as it is coherent and it makes sense, being rambly might be okay?
    2) Does my blog look… bloggy? I designed the logo myself, and I'm really trying to make it look polished.
    3) How are my photography skills? I'm really trying hard to improve them, and learn how to color balance and edit properly in photoshop.
    4) Is my writing actually any good? Does the humor come through or do I sound like a banana person?
    5) Also……….. How exactly does Blogging U work? Seriously. I've signed up for 2 courses and I haven't gotten any emails! I know this isn't the right place to ask, but help??

    1. your writing makes sense. your posts have a friendly chat sort of feel to them..the only thing that actually annoyed me was all the unnecessary vulgarities. It looked contrived and not at all in keeping with the rest of the postings. They actually took away from what you were writing. Cursing has it’s purposes but seemed to be more of a “look at me, I am a grown up and can curse all I want” than an emphasis on your subject. Hope that helps.
