The place for feedback, advice, and friendly blogging chatter.
Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Are you redesigning your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?
The Community Pool is for peer feedback and advice. Looking for more specific information? Check out some of these resources:
- Learn, a series of step-by-step tutorials for those just starting out.
- All our posts on building an audience and growing your traffic.
- If you’re stuck for inspiration, here are our Daily Prompts and other ideas for writing topics.
- A roundup of posts on blogging etiquette.
Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).
Looking for free, self-guided courses to help you get started with your blog (or revive a dormant one)? Check out our current offerings at Blogging U.
To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips you might find useful:
- While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
- The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once!
- If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
- We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother.
- Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
- To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.
- If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
- No running on the deck.
Are you a new blogger looking to share your very first post? We have a special forum for bloggers just like you in our weekly First Friday posts.

Hello,
I registered for the Blogging Fundamentals course yesterday and just published my first post. I’m attempting to self-host this blog…and feeling rather clueless. I’d love your feedback on the theme and would like to make some new friends in the blogging world.
While I am still clueless about who I am and why I am here, here’s the URL to my first post: http://roflwithqsm.com/blog/2016/06/04/who-i-am-and-why-i-am-here-anandhotep-anand-of-qsm-magazine/
I welcome your thoughts, salty, peppery, spicy…in your favorite flavor.
Thanks,
Anand.

I have 1 question tho. How can I add more subcategories under each menu. Is it only for prime membership? (Paid one) Thanks!

Hello đŸ™‚
i have checked out your blog and really like the about page.
to add subcategories go to WP Admin(dashboard) then go to “appearances” and then go to “menu” from there in the menu structure you will find an option to add subcategories. hope this helps. good luck đŸ™‚

Hi Fellow Bloggers,
I am just starting my blog and am having great fun. I am looking for some feedback regarding the look and content. I have a question on the photos. I have embedded a watermark but should I also use a visible mark as well?
I am okay with criticism, that’s how we improve, so don’t hold back.
Thanks,
Linda

I’m unsure of the proper protocol for photos. My guess is that if you give clear credit, you should be okay. I didn’t see an About page on your site. The content you have on your first post would work for that. You could copy part or all of it into an About page. https://gracelead.co

Thanks, they are my photos. I can’t figure out where to add the about page. Didn’t know what to write but I like your suggestion .

We ran this post a while back on the question of watermarks — the information there might help you decide which direction to follow:

Hey everyone, first time blogger and very happy to see so many like minded people all in one place. I’ve written my first blog ever on word press and I’m just creating content before I publish my page completely and would truly love some honest feedback. I’ve always been a good speaker, just not in this format. Thanks everyone.

I really enjoyed reading your posts–very original and thought provoking! I was hoping to find more information about you and your goals on your about page, but I guess you haven’t filled it out yet… so my one suggestion would be to fill that out! Actually, I have a second suggestion–go into your settings and make it easier to “like” your posts!

That’s an apt analogy. I like the way you structured it with a brief backstory and the analogy for each piece of the solution. I did see a few typos, so you might want to proofread. I put my posts in draft, let them sit for a day, then proofread before I hit the publish button. https://gracelead.co

Hi bloggers! So I started my “fashion friday” feature a week ago and this is my second one till now. I was wondering if what the general public thinks. Should I continue with the feature? Is it appealing? Feedback and ways to improve it are encouraged.
