Community Pool

The place for feedback, advice, and blogging camaraderie.

Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Are you redesigning your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?

The Community Pool is for peer feedback and advice. Looking for more specific information? Check out some of these resources:

Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).

Looking for free, self-guided courses to help you get started with your blog (or revive a dormant one)? Check out our current offerings at Blogging U.

To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips you might find useful:

  • While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
  • The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once!
  • If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
  • We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother.
  • Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
  • To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.
  • If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
  • No running on the deck.

Are you a new blogger looking to share your very first post? We have a special forum for bloggers just like you in our weekly First Friday posts.

    1. It’s very inspiring hearing your words about that journey. And as for your writing, it contains an element of comfort which makes it very easy to read. Good work! 🙂

    2. Your post made a good point about comfort zones, though the lead in portion with the toothbrush and shampoo fiascos didn’t seem to relate to the topic. It was funny, just not relevant. Also, I kept thinking there would be some photos. https://gracelead.co

    1. I really liked the way you wrote. I find blogs that write casually to be the most interesting to read because they’re comfortable. If you wanted to improve your writing all I would say is keep your topics organized and make sure your sentences flow. Good job! 🙂

  1. Remember when Russia annexed Crimea? I wrote about that–kind of. In this story, America tells Russia they’re kicking her out of the G8 (i.e. Cool Kids Club) for being a “terrible person.” Conveniently, America doesn’t bring up that he too is a terrible person. 3. Hi there! I write about personal development & changing my life & career. I’m curious to know if I’m striking the right balance in my writing of authenticity without being too negative/ melancholy. I’d love any feedback!

    1. I thought your writing was wonderful! Sometimes negative aspects need to be addressed. That’s what makes our writing real. I thought you had a great way of maintaining that reality. Good work! 🙂

    1. I love your blog! I’m younger, but I’m a teenage Christian too, and it’s pretty hard these days, but I can’t imagine having depression to go with it… Nice writing, and keep up the work!

    2. I’m sorry you have to suffer like this, especially when so young. It’s incredible that you were able to identify the depression at such a young age. My husband had it since he was 12, but didn’t realize what it was until he was an adult, and so never told anybody. I’m not religious, but your post is beautiful and I believe what religion should be about. All the best to you.

  5. Hey everyone! My name is Wolfcalls, and…
I write rhymed verse poetry- just a ambitious teenage rambling about my thoughts and feelings- and I’d love if you checked it out. Feedback is encouraged- please let me know what you honestly think so that I can actually improve! That’s really one of the main purposes of this blog- to grow as a writer, and it’d be great if you helped me with that! Thank you!

  6. Just in case anyone has time, I’d love to get some feedback on my writings and lay out. I mainly write my thoughts down which translates to (at times) non-concrete stuff but I’d like to improve ordering and expressing thoughts in a clear way (I’m not even sure if I make a lot of sense in this comment hehe). Anyhow, thanks ahead! 🙂 https://almiqui.wordpress.com/

    1. I’m not big on poetry but I liked what I read briefly. The site looks deliberately minimal and I like the clean look but it’s perhaps too stark?

      1. Thanks, Jake! It is definitely deliberately minimal but it shouldn’t be too much. I’ve been trying out different lay outs/themes/colors but haven’t found my favorite yet. I’ll keep on searching I guess. Thanks for your honest thoughts on it!

  7. Good morning and Happy Monday. I am interested in learning more about overall feedback for the types of posts you’d like to see on a site dedicated to inspiring philanthropic makers.

The site is Goods Giving Back and the blog is here: https://www.goodsgivingback.com/blog. It’s currently a mix of DIY tutorials (for inspiration), features on makers giving back, and startup/small biz insights for those hoping to improve their business. What else do you feel would provide value for a reader?

Thank you so much for your time. I look forward to reading and providing feedback on other posts in the community.

    Kind regards,
    Dana
