First Friday

New blogger? Welcome! Share a link to your first post, and say hello to some other fresh faces.

If you’re already a few posts into your blog and are looking for support or feedback, the Community Pool is the place for you!

Have a technical question? Try the WordPress.com Support Forums.

Want to learn more about blogging? Take a Blogging U. course.

If a blogger publishes her first post and no one reads it, did it really happen? Of course it did! But when someone does read it, even better. Welcome to First Friday, a weekly open thread where any new blogger can share a link to his or her very first post with the larger WordPress.com community.

To share your first post with us, copy and paste the link right into a comment here; feel free to introduce yourself, and tell us what you hope to blog about. If you’re not new, you can still be a part of First Fridays: visit a link or two, and leave the blogger a like or comment. The first recognition a blogger gets is powerful, and you can provide that for someone brand-new!

Need help finding, copying, and pasting your link?

Head to your blog’s home page.

Click on the title of your post to open the individual post page.

Highlight and copy the URL you see in your browser’s address bar. You can copy by going to the Edit menu in your browser and selecting Copy, or with a keyboard shortcut (Control+C for a PC, Command+C on a Mac).

Paste the URL into a comment here. You can paste by going to the Edit menu in your browser and selecting Paste, or with a keyboard shortcut (Control+V for a PC, Command+V on a Mac).

That’s it!

You can make this a useful space for new bloggers with a few simple guidelines:

  • We encourage anyone who shares a link to visit one or two other bloggers here. New readers for all!
  • When commenting, the third time is not the charm: don’t share the same link repeatedly, or in multiple First Friday threads. We’ll remove repeat posts to keep this space focused for new bloggers.
  • Please don’t use this as a space to share your first post…. that you published three years ago; ditto for simply sharing your latest post. Posts should have been published within the last month, and should be your first post. We’ll remove other posts to keep this space focused for new bloggers.
  • Link directly to your new post, rather than to your blog generally — it makes it that much easier for folks to like the post or leave you comments.
  • Keep comments civil. Even better: visit a blogger and leave your comment directly on their blog!
  • To keep from losing your place while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.
  • If you’ve never looked at our Commenting Guidelines, now might be a good time.

  1. Hello!! I’m new to WordPress! I just started my blog two days ago so I only have a few posts so far, but there will be plenty more to come. My blog will include all things travel – my adventures and my thoughts on expat life, information on going vegan and plant-based recipes, tips on long distance relationships, my fitness journey, style inspiration, and more!
Would love if you checked it out 🙂

    1. I can’t click on your link to follow…being new to this and on my cell, not sure how to get around. Would you mind reposting an active link with the first part there and hit enter after the last bit? I find that helps make sure the link is active.

  2. Hello! This is my first ever attempt at blogging or anything like this on the Internet. I am learning as I go but have joined the fundamentals of blogging 101 class through the Blogging University to Anne sure I am doing it right. As soon as I joined, I wrote the below about the days events. Please let me know how well it reads. Disappointments and Hope – Mischa Ralle

    1. My only advice is to go through and delete everything that is extra. For example, on your page titled blog you have a post that says First Post click the link to modify or edit. That could be deleted along with some other things like that.

As for Ideas just write about what comes naturally to you. Maybe you could write about your life in the Philippines. I’ve never been and would find it interesting. Or you could write about your schooling. There’s limitless options.

      1. Yes! We do have same interests and I’ve also read your blogposts. They are really thought provoking and I think you should also go for “Terribly Tiny Tales”.
I’d love to get your thoughts on my blog. I’m always looking for feedback on how to improve viewership, so if you have advise, please let me know!

  3. Hi, my name is Kimbery and I tried to start a blog two years ago but due to technical problems I didn’t get to my account anymore. Now I am back and planning to finally do something decent with my blog. So, you can count this post as my first post. I’ll be talking about books and travels and could definitely use some advise. Furthermore, due to exams, following posts will be after the 6th of June

    1. Hi there! Good-looking blog, and I especially appreciated the “Through the Brick Wall” post. 🙂
Feedback: you have an “About” page, and currently all that says is what the about page does…the template “about” page. Why don’t you write a little something about yourself in it? Make it your own!

  6. Good Morning everyone,
I started a blog 2 and a half weeks ago and had no idea these First Friday’s existed. I am having a lot of fun formatting and adding images to the blog and of course anything creative is a wonderful distraction. I am still learning how to navigate wordpress and am sure I will keep revising. My blog is pretty personal but I am finding writing to be therapeutic. Below is the link to my first post.

    1. Hi osephine! Your blog has gorgeous photos and that’s a great first post.
Feedback: You only need one “About Me” page. I noticed that there’s an extra “about” template on your blog. You might want to eliminate it, and just keep the “about me.”

    1. FYI: that link goes to your dashboard, which is private, so people won’t be able to see your site. The simplest way to get the public link is = to go to your blog’s main page and click on the post title. Then, copy the address you see in your browser’s address bar and use that. Yours is:
