Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Did you recently start your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?

Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).

To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips you might find useful:

TIP: To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.

  • While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
  • The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once!
  • If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
  • We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother.
  • Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
  • If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
  • No running on the deck.

  1. Hi swimmers,

I have just started a project and would like to know if people have any opinions or suggestions for me.

I only have an introduction on my site as of yet, but i would be interested in feedback. It is a photography based comment on postmodern society.

Also, I do not really know how to navigate the site very well. So the inside scoop could be really beneficial to me.

    Thanks everyone.

    Have a great day,

    C

    1. Hi, there,
I just read “A Seeker’s Poem” and I am blown away by your depth and talent…just awesome! I will read more later (I need to get to sleep), but look forward to discovering more of what you are offering. It speaks to me. God bless you….and thank you for sharing 🙂

      1. thank you so much, it all comes from the heart. The majority of what i write is based on my life and tings i have been through and will go through. I look forward to reading yours as well

    2. Your poetry is compelling. The layout looks good. You might want to add an About page that tells the purpose of your site. It would help to designate a category for each post. Consider what topics you are likely to write about in your poems and stories. Those could be your categories. My blog has 4 categories for posts. I’ve assigned each post to one of those categories. I also have some pages of downloads. http://gracelead.co

    1. Hi.
The theme of your post is clear, but I couldn’t tell how it relates to the theme of your blog. What is your blog about?
I would check spelling and grammar as well.
      I hope this helps you.

      1. Hi Chosenwon,
Thank you for your feed back …there is a saying in Africa that says the event is bigger sometimes than the timing…the blog is about motivation. Experience and stories of life. its about poetry, its about everything that uplifts our souls and make our hearts connect. Its about healing for the world is bleeding to death. Its not about one thing its about particular moments in our life time. You can check the grammar too and spelling that will go along way in improving this blog. On the other hand Its imperative to note here that I write in three other languages, Gikuyu (My tribal language), Swahili and German. So English is the fourth in that order. sometimes what I post is deeply influenced in philosophy, theology and performing arts as I am a student of all.Once again thank you.

    2. “Lazy-mind syndrome.” That’s creative. I’m fairly new to blogging. So far, as I’m visiting blogs, I’m seeing three types: (1) Those promoting products or services, (2) Those expressing themselves, talking it out, (3) Those who share ideas they hope will be helpful to others. I think they all have a place. We each need to decide why we are blogging and if it’s a good use of our time. http://gracelead.co

      1. I appreciate you insight and taking time to read my posting. Information is a product that how I view it…the packaging of that information makes all the difference..we can all write about a rainy day but it will be different in expression and creative imagery.

    3. Sam, I have received similar responses from people when I told them I was starting a blog. They were quizzical about my need to write and viewed my invitations to follow my blog as more spam in their in-boxes. I just hope that I am able to convey my message with as much passion as you did in the “Impossible Impossibilities” post. I did have to go back a couple of times in this post to clearly follow your train of thought but never found myself derailed. 🙂

      1. Thank so much @Intentergy that is a profound comment. Its impressive that you did not get derailed along the thought line, I appreciate your patience and time to make an honest observation. I think in my tribal language then I write the idea in English..hahahha will visit your blog too. Do not give up the art of writing is to keep on writing.

  5. I just started a post on weight loss and empowerment for women and teenagers. I really want people to see my potential! This is my very first time doing a blog and I don’t know the secret rules and guidelines so… Help!

    1. Yay feminists!
I looked at your blog on a mini ipad and your title gotten broken strangely.
Definitely add a pic yourself soon.

I’ve taught people Pilates for a long time and I know that having a specific goal makes all the difference in change. Example: “I want to be in better shape” vs “I want to reduce 3 inches in my hips in 6 months”. If you post your specifics then other people will comment with their specifics.
      I hope this helps you.

    1. Hi Alivia,

I like the clean theme you have. I’d suggest putting your social icons as widgets in the side bar instead of allocating a menu tab for them. Looks a little better and easier for people to access from any page.

      Best of luck,
      Aidan

    1. I am ADAF and I laughed at your post! Funny but you also raise good and true points! One thing I would do would be to provide resources, links, or on base advocates your readers can go see for expert advice. Other than that great job!

  7. I am brand new to blogging and would really like some feedback. My subject matter is entertainment news. I just noticed since being on this site that you should have a specific ‘look’ to your blog depending on what it’s about. Can someone take a peek at my layout to see if that’s what they’re talking about? If not, what can I fix? Also, my overall writing style and ease of reading. Thank you and I look forward to your feedback.

    1. Hi Cree, I really like your signature sign off “Keep smiling.” You have a very friendly tone, with some hometown pride mixed in. Some of the opinions you included felt a little harsh but you include a nice mix of romance, philanthropy, and entertainment in your posts.

      1. Every day there is a new question or topic to post about eg, Day 1 – Earliest childhood memory, Day 2 – 10 favourite foods and so on. I found a 30day blog challenge to do and decided to give it a go

    1. My advice to move to the next step: Go deeper. You like “x”. Great! I’m glad to know that, but what I really want to know is why you like “x”. What about it excites you? Share something personal about how your hobbies have affected your life. Maybe stories of sharing a hobby with friends and how you bonded over the experience?

    1. There is such a diverse audience out there that there are likely to be others who enjoy things you do. Given that, focus on what you like. Think about why you want to do a blog. Edit your About page so it tells us the purpose of your blog. I like your post on bullying. It makes good points and give a personal example from your experience. It would be helpful to put the word “bullying” in the title. http://gracelead.co

    1. Your About page does tell us about you. It might also be helpful to tell us what the purpose of the blog is. What topics are you likely to use for your posts? Those could become categories and you could assign each post to a category. Your site layout is pleasing. I like your header. http://gracelead.co

  10. Hi All,

It’s only been few days since I started my blog and I have only published 1 post so far. I have had few views and visitors but I do not have any followers yet or likes/comments. I tried customising my page and post.
I am looking some honest feedback and constructive criticism 🙂

    Here’s a link to my website: https://theunplannedplans.wordpress.com/

I await your feedback and comments.

    Thanks,

    1. You might want to have your Home page be your posts and put About as a separate page. It usually takes time for people to find a blog. If you have social media, you can share your posts to those accounts. Look for blogs that contain subject matter similar to yours and make comments. That could help people find your blog. http://gracelead.co
