Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Did you recently start your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?

Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).

To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips you might find useful:

TIP: To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.

  • While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
  • The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once!
  • If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
  • We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother.
  • Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
  • If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
  • No running on the deck.

  1. Hi all-

I have been blogging for about 6 years but am new to WordPress. I really want to make my WordPress site work well for me. If anyone has any input, I would greatly appreciate it- and if you want to follow the links to my other sites and share what you think about them, that would be great too.

    Thanks 🙂

  2. I’m always hesitant to ask for feedback because I kind of like that no one reads it. But, to put myself out there is something that I need to work on. So, if anyone takes a look and follows I’ll be happy to follow you back.

    1. I love how thorough your About page is! It covers everything from who you are, what your blog is about and how to navigate your blog. It helps people to get to the posts they would be interested in. I think its great. No need for change.

    1. Hi there!
I checked out your blog. I love your writing. I think you need to get some followers. Just some interacting with other bloggers, and start building up from there.

  4. Hey everybody!

I have been blogging for about 6 months now and would love some feedback now that I’m set in what I’d like my blog to develop into. My blog is geared towards inspiring people no matter what the inspiration may be and for them to follow their dreams. I’m always open to feedback! Thanks in advance! 🙂

    1. Your blog looks clean and professional, and it’s very informative. While your posts are exceptionally written, you show great personality in your About page. Maybe you can bring in some of your personality into the posts? You don’t have to let go of your authoritative voice, but maybe a funny quip or anecdote in each piece will make it your own. I hope that helps! Your site looks great! Good luck, and keep up the good work!

  7. Hi everyone!!
Plz do have a look on my post

    Suffering amidst the joy
Rains bring joy to most, it is a feeling that cannot be defined like how it feels going out with the people you love in the rain. Who does not love rains after all?  The weather becomes so pleasant, people who did not feel like going out, suddenly get a reason to go out and […]

    1. your writing is exceptional. The only suggestion I have is that due to the length of the posts you might want to use the “read more” option in you editor. This separates the blog into two pages which is somehow easier for the readers to deal with. Otherwise it is really really good. http://www.suziland.net

    2. From a content standpoint I thought you definitely conveyed your message on Flights of Fancy and left a comment on the post. From a technical vantage, it was clear and well-written but could have been condensed a bit. Personally, as someone who posts pieces around 1000 count, I have no issue with longer posts if they are engaging enough and don’t meander. You have a lovely voice. Welcome to the blogging world.

    1. Hi, depending on your setting someone might have to be logged in or give an email address to post a comment. If you want to change that you go to WP Admin. Then you want to click on settings and within settings discussion. Under other comment settings will be boxes and you can decide who can comment and who can’t. Let me know if this helps!

      1. Are you WP admin settings? There should be settings>discussions if you scroll down and that’s where you should be able to look at settings for comments

    2. I can see comments posted on February 29th on one of your posts. As far as I can guess those aren’t wordpress users. Generally speaking, non-WP users don’t bother leaving comments that much unless they are really intrigued to share some thought with you. For WP members, it comes a bit more naturally to engage with commenting and stuff.

  9. Hey everyone!! I just started my blog yesterday! It is sharing information on pets and animals, from quirks to nutrition, I would just like anyone who is interested in this kind of information to take a look at my blog and tell me what you think/ if it’s helpful to you and if I can answer any more of your questions :)!!! Thank you!

    1. My advice for now, would be to suggest you to reduce the font size of your headings and/or resist the urge to add too many details to it. A short and creative heading makes a lot more impact than a very long one.

For Ex: I’d remove part, ‘Nutrition, Diet, Grooming, Play, and More!’ from the following post of yours.
      https://mypetadvice.wordpress.com/2016/03/13/my-advice-for-first-time-or-long-time-cat-owners-nutrition-diet-grooming-play-and-more/

Also, I’d make the slug far shorter than what it is now. Something like, ”advice-for-first-time-cat-owners”. WordPress slug uses all words from your heading automatically, but the bloggers will have to make some changes to it to make it more meaningful by editing and cutting it short.

      1. Okay, I got it!!
In your wordpress, go to MySites -> Themes -> Customize -> Fonts -> Heading -> (Select an appropriate heading size)

Now while we are at it, may be you can reduce font size for your posts too, I kind of find even them, too large! 😛

      2. May be I did confuse you with too many things at a time. And even I am not sure if ‘size’ of the heading can possibly be changed. So the other idea should help you, i.e. to reduce length of the heading. That should definitely achieve what we are looking for right now.

And I hope you got the idea how to edit the slug. 🙂

    1. I love your conversational tone and the content is right up my alley. You have a new follower. I couldn’t find an “about ” page to let new readers get a glimpse before sampling the lovely body of work you’ve assembled do far?
