Community Pool

The place for feedback, advice, and friendly blogging chatter.

Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Did you recently start your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?

Did you just start blogging and you’re not sure how to get going? Has your blog been dormant for a while but you’d like to give it a jolt of life? Join our free Blogging 101 course (or any of our other offerings at Blogging U.).

Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).

To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips you might find useful:

TIP: To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.

  • While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
  • The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once!
  • If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
  • We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother.
  • Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
  • If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
  • No running on the deck.

    1. Love fitness blogs, even though I don’t think I’ll ever be able to pull off a bikini anyway! 😉 Always use them as inspiration, especially the diet side. My experience is that blogs like these always benefit from social media exposure, especially Instagram.

      I’ve given you a follow!

    2. Hi – I’m not sure comments are posting!? I replied yesterday that I like your blog (although, as a man, I’m not sure I’ll ever compete in a bikini competition!), especially the nutrition stuff. From me experience, fitness blogs really benefit from social media exposure.

  1. Hi. I write a film blog which includes reviews, news and opinion pieces. Have a look and see. Feel free to post on the site.
I just published an opinion piece on the oft-used phrase ‘guilty pleasures’, relating to those films you aren’t supposed to like but actually do. I’d love to hear your feedback and would of course return the favour. Thanks

  2. Hello all 🙂 I recently started blogging in January, I only have 6 posts. If you would like to look at a few and comment to let me know what you think, that would be just wonderful! I appreciate any and all feedback, as I am not a writer I often wonder if people enjoy what I write. Thank you so much! 🙂 Looking forward to hearing from you!!

    1. Hi, there…I read each of your posts: they were irresistible…you have a gift of connection, and a talent for (among many other things, I’m sure) wonderful, authentic writing…I relate to you so much…right down to the fact that, about an hour ago, I posted that exact yellow flower/quote that you have on one of your blogs…perhaps you’d be curious as to how I express my truth and quest to keep it real…you can find me at http://www.trulyunplugged.com. Either way, I am privileged to “follow” you…you are awesome! 🙂

    1. I think your blog posts are good. It seems like you write about your interests and topics with which you have some experience. I am probably not part of your target reading audience as a male, but I think that is okay. I think blogging is a good platform for telling your story and writing about your unique experiences/viewpoints, and you seem to be doing these things.

      1. Awh that’s great to hear! Thank you, it is great to be new to all of this and have such positive feed back. Blogging about things you know and things you want to is what makes the blog personal to you so I guess that’s the whole point.

  4. Hi, Just a couple of basic questions from a new blogger; what is the best voice to write your About section in? Should it be about me or my blog, or a combination of both? What is most effective? Second question, my blog is linked to my Facebook profile, but facebook followers cannot ‘like’ blog posts unless they have a wordpress account? Is that correct and if so, is there a way to allow them to like posts without having an account on wordpress?
    Thanks!

  6. Hi, everyone…first, I want to say thank you to those of you wh’ve been visiting my blog…it is such a thrill to know that people from so many walks of life, countries (8….8 countries!!!!!!), and talents are laying eyes on my writings! What a wonderful way to connect on a different level. And, returning the favour has been my honour…as a result, I am following several people and vice versa. I would love some feedback on my latest post (dated Feb 29/16). It is my fourth one (my first was Feb 6/16) and I will post one whimsical, philosophical, imaginative and gratitude-laced offering per week…I absolutely love writing (and reading) and I am so grateful for this opportunity to share and connect….this suits me right down to the ground! 🙂 Please find me at http://www.truly.urquhart.com
    “See” you… 🙂
