Community Pool

The place for feedback, advice, and blogging camaraderie.

Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Did you recently start your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?

Did you just start blogging and you’re not sure how to get going? Has your blog been dormant for a while but you’d like to give it a jolt of life? Join our free Blogging 101 course (or any of our other offerings at Blogging U.).

Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).

To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips you might find useful:

TIP: To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.

  • While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
  • The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once!
  • If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
  • We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother.
  • Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
  • If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
  • No running on the deck.

  1. I started blogging as a way to finally say what I think and feel out loud (well close enough) without judgement from friends and family but I can’t help but feel it’s a bit pointless if no one is reading them. I don’t want to share on my social networking sites because then I couldn’t be as honest as I am, which for me, is the reason I do it. How else can I get more followers on WP? Thanks in advance 🙂

      1. Thank you Suze, it must be there somewhere as I do have a couple of followers but I’m still getting used to the site so couldn’t tell you where. It’s nice to hear my words are worthwhile, that means a lot.

  3. Hey everyone. I am an undergraduate at a UK university and I have started a political/current affairs blog.

I have just posted an article on the death of Antonin Scalia – would love to get some feedback.

    Thanks.

    Charlie Richards.

    1. Definitely worth a bookmark! I mentioned this to someone else earlier… Food and health blogs I think really benefit from social media exposure. A tweet or instagram post could really increase your readership.

    1. Hi Natasha, I enjoyed your blog (I’m going to write a reply to one of your posts!). One thing I thought when I read it is that your content reminds me of a lot of social media accounts – certainly in the health area. Maybe, to expand your followers, you could see about linking to other like minded blogs on social media?

      1. Thank you for the response!! I definitely appreciate it! I’ve been trying to figure out ways to do that. Every time I post, I always share it on FB, Twitter, and Instagram, but I don’t feel like it’s been producing much. Would you recommend searching for similar bloggers on WordPress and becoming more active within those sites?

      2. I’ve been exploring social media but I can’t reach further than my friends! Mine is a personal blog so it doesn’t really matter, but yours sits nicely in health and wellness for which there is a large community you could share ideas with. I’m no expert, that’s just what I saw!

    2. Hi Natasha
I read somewhere that you should share more than just your latest post on twitter etc, not sure if it helps. I’ve got a link to my blog on the twitter account but only post a few blog posts. I then follow and tag similar likes and tweets. Although, hasn’t got me many more followers so maybe it doesn’t work! haha. Like your blog though 🙂

    1. Hi Fiona, I really liked your first post. I like the fact that you out about your experience while also adding some facts about the twinned cities.

      1. Hi there,
Thank you very much! That means a lot. I know I have a lot of work to do but I have just started today. I really like your wordpress theme. It’s pretty cool. Thanks again for your feedback. Feel free to comment on anything that needs working on 🙂

  4. I’m not sure if this is the place for this but I recently started my blog and I’m finding it really hard to find other blogs. So like or comment and I’ll check your blog out. I’m looking for diy, lifestyle, makeup kind of blogs and I’ll give you a follow. And please check out mine too:)

    1. Because I am unable to figure out how I can edit my comment, I am forced to reply to my own thread! The sole thing I’d like to add is that some references might seem obscure, but that is merely due to the pervasive gap between the two cultures.
Can someone please shed some light on how I can edit my comments? Just in case, you know!
