The place for feedback, advice, and friendly blogging chatter.
Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Did you recently start your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?
Did you just start blogging and you’re not sure how to get going? Has your blog been dormant for a while but you’d like to give it a jolt of life? Join our free Blogging 101 course (or any of our other offerings at Blogging U.).
Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).
To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips you might find useful:
TIP: To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.
- While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
- The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once!
- If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
- We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother.
- Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
- If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
- No running on the deck.

Hello people, thanks in advance. My blogs are of a more philosophical type, I have two blogs, one devoted to a specific subject, God’s existence; and the other is very recently created and is broader in its relevancy.
I want to hear feedbacks, criticism and appreciation about my works to see if I am really doing the job I am intending to. Thanks a lot again!

Hello! I spent a long time at the weekend researching and writing a post (don’t you just love it when you get quiet times to write at the weekend? This blogger does. 🙂 ). My post talks about how Disney animated movies use accents to reflect and reinforce stereotypes in society.
It was inspired by last week’s Washington Post article about linguistic research on gender and dialogue in Disney princess movies, which is finding that in more recent movies, male characters have a lot more dialogue than females.
I’m really interested in hearing what others think about the issues I discuss in my post.
Do you agree that Disney movies can play a part in teaching children how to discriminate?
Here’s my post. “Disney’s Loss of Innocence: language, race and gender in children’s animated movies” — http://wp.me/p1Bv1X-145

I’m no great expert on Disney movies, but you make a very interesting case. Gave your blog a follow so I can backtrack on some of your older posts.

I’m glad you find my post thought-provoking. Thanks for the follow. 🙂 I tend to blog about varied topics – mostly books, movies, linguistics and some topical academic issues, especially where language is concerned.

Hi there. I read your post and really liked it. I think you write really well and are thoughtful.
I have two young boys and am trying so hard to make them aware/ unaware of gender i.e when it matters, and when it doesn’t. I really appreciated your blog from that point of view as well.
Well done – I’m now following you.

Thank you for the feedback. 🙂 I’m glad you enjoyed my post — I was trying to find the right balance between academic research and my own thoughts, so I hope that came across.
And thanks for the follow too. I’ll check out your blog.

Hi Grace, thank you so much for sharing this thought provoking post. I will come right out and say that I’m a big Disney fan, but that doesn’t mean I can’t appreciate the questions you bring up. As for the points your post makes, I agree with some, I disagree with others, but that’s to be expected, right? 😉
Regardless of me personally agreeing or disagreeing with your opinion in this piece, my only feedback would be to balance your sources if you’re going for an academic approach. As I read your post, I couldn’t tell if it was meant to be an opinion piece (in which case there would be no need for you to balance the sources you cite), or if it was meant to take a more clinical approach (in which case I think it would only be fair to include substantiated arguments from all sides).
Happy blogging!

Hi, thanks for your comment.
Sure, my post was designed to start a conversation, so I’m glad to hear others’ thoughts.
I’d say that my post is neither purely opinion nor purely academic, but a combination of the two. 🙂

Hi everyone,
I’ve recently written a monthly roundup on https://loonysbiz.wordpress.com/ – showing all the posts I published in January. If anyone would like to look at all of them, go ahead, but I’d really like some feedback on my gender stereotypes rant, my objectification poem and my article about an empty holiday. All these posts can be found in the roundup.
Thanks a bunch!
Loony

I agree with the stereotypes rant..keep ranting until things change. the poem was good. see my comments there. I never knew about Australia day so that was interesting. I wish we’d do away with mothers day and fathers day and just have an inclusive parent’s day.

Thank you – I absolutely intend to.
Thanks for reading those and commenting, I always appreciate the feedback.
And I haven’t really put much thought to it but I think an inclusive ‘Parent’s Day’ would make it easier for kids from diverse families for sure 🙂

If you’re into photography and art, there are a ton of WordPress themes that showcase those mediums. One thing I like to see is an “About” page. I know you’ve put up some information about yourself as your first post, but you could easily transpose that into an “About” page later on. Also, it’s easy to post about things that you like, so post what you think is important to you. Your recent blog post said that your tastes change all the time, so I’m sure you’ll have plenty to discuss 🙂
Good luck! Hope this helps!

The theme of your blog fits in nicely with your content, especially the one about living in colonized India. Your use of pictures is also nice. The bright colors are cheerful and inviting. You mention here that you love to write; are these posts some of your written pieces?
Keep up the good work! Good luck!

I’ve recently changed my theme. I want a new banner (probably going to use Fiverr). I can’t decide if I should go for a colorful banner or a black & white minimalist type thing. My blog is about teaching and learning both in and outside of the classroom. What do you think?

I just took a look at your blog and I very much like the theme and the banner with the color. I think the small pop of color really balances the look of your blog.

I love color, so I’m a bit biased. But I also think it would go well with your theme and the other pops of color that are in your sidebar and photos.

Thanks. I wanted color too. I was afraid it would look too busy. But I’m going to go with a pop of color and not go all elementary school teacher on my blog. I’m excited to finally have some sort of logo!

Hi, thanks for sharing! I definitely like the content theme of your blog — inspiration is wonderful! My only suggestion would be to reconsider the WP theme you are using. I find that particular theme to be bulky and annoying to navigate. Just my personal opinion, but I prefer traditional blog layouts where the most recent post is at the top, and you scroll down for older posts. Just my two cents 🙂
