Community Pool

The place for feedback, advice, and friendly blogging chatter.

Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Did you recently start your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?

Did you just start blogging and you’re not sure how to get going? Has your blog been dormant for a while but you’d like to give it a jolt of life? Join our free Blogging 101 course (or any of our other offerings at Blogging U.).

Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).

To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips you might find useful:

TIP: To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.

  • While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
  • The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once!
  • If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
  • We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother.
  • Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
  • If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
  • No running on the deck.

  1. So I’ve been thinking about having some giveaways to go with some of the products that I write about. Many spirit makers will give out free glasses or other drinking paraphernalia for free, especially around Christmas time. I’ve got a collection of such things (in an unused state, of course) and was thinking about giving them away when I post write ups for their respective products.

Has anyone tried anything like this before? Does anyone know how to make it more successful or spread the word about the giveaway?

    1. I think it will work well once there are more subjects for people to comment upon. Hang in there. I liked the points you brought up about schooling. maybe connect with another blogger, and each take one side of an issue. you start the posting, they comment, you debate their remarks sort of thing? It might work and get you more beneficial traffic. http://www.suziland.net

  2. Man that felt great. Just got some stuff out about my personal battles. I don’t even mind if no one reads them, that was more therapeutic that anything I’ve ever done. So thankful I found this place, to have a place to voice my life.

  7. Hey all, check out my blog! I just started it a few weeks ago and I was hoping for some feedback from some of you more seasoned writers. This is a link to a poem I wrote but the blog holds a lot more things than just poetry. If you guys could help guide me in a direction where I can get my voice out there faster and with a greater impact, that would be EXTREMELY appreciated.

  8. Hello wordpressers,
I’ve recently set up a site and it would be great if you could drop by and let me know your thoughts. There are only 2 posts at the moment; one inspired by a song title and the other my wife, but I’m planning to concentrate on short stories

  9. So right now I think I am using my blogging for release and therapy. Because if I don’t get this out, I’m going to bust. And solitude isn’t really my login, it’s my life. My questions are….the BloggingU that is advertised, is there a cost? Do any of you have multiple blogs? My current one is a real downer and painful….so I was thinking of starting another lighter….good news happy times something. Just wondering if you guys juggle multiple sites. I have lots of ideas for down the road, after I know more of what I’m doing.
    This is me now: https://solitude1blog.wordpress.com/

    1. Writing is therapeutic and the way you are managing is fine. I like how you release every inch of your emotions out on “Solitude1blog”. I do hope that you feel better after everytime you write.

I think it would be great if you could start another blog for more lighthearted pieces. Of course, it would be great if you could also insert certain light-hearted pieces in the current blog; it acts as a variety so as to speak. I’m sure when you look back in years to come, you won’t have to brood over all the negativities. 🙂

      Hope I helped! Cheers!

      1. I truly appreciate that! I will check yours out as well, I am very very new here, as you could tell. And I think you are right, this is FOR me, so why not add my own funny stuff in there. I can at least show myself I’m not all negative. And I do plan to revisit this, and hopefully help others after I get my life in check. And I do! Feel so better everytime I write something. Some of these events I haven’t thought of in years. It’s a real “process” remember, writing and somewhat releasing stuff I’ve had bottled up for so long. You are the first person to write me anything at all, and I sincerely appreciate your time 🙂

    1. Hey there, I like your pictures in your first post. But I do find it a little bit annoying when it comes to viewing your wordpress. It is the bottom black bar with the “create a free website …” thingy, that hinders me from seeing the whole post. Try removing it. (FYI, I am using a laptop.) Otherwise, the design is clean and simple. 🙂

  12. Hey, so I am getting discouraged… Follow for follow ??? I posted a story, and my plans were for it to be a chain for everybody to comment a sentence or two, to make it a fun, silly, dramatic, interesting, story !! I am slowly posting more of my photography. And I want to post some more rants, because I got reports that all of my 2 followers liked that. Help me come up with ideas to post and make my blog a bit more interesting. Thanks so much. https://loveorhate118.wordpress.com
