Community Pool

The place for feedback, advice, and friendly blogging chatter.

Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Did you recently start your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?

Did you just start blogging and you’re not sure how to get going? Has your blog been dormant for a while but you’d like to give it a jolt of life? Join our free Blogging 101 course (or any of our other offerings at Blogging U.).

Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).

To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips you might find useful:

TIP: To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.

  • While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
  • The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once!
  • If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
  • We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother.
  • Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
  • If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
  • No running on the deck.

  2. Hey all!
I am in the making of a blog about how Hindu practices in Bali differ from practices in other predominantly Hindu areas. I have made my first post, yet I am unsure how to feature it on my page. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you all so much!

      1. The user name is clickable, and will take you to that commenter’s website. Likewise, there’s no need for you to add your blog address to every comment you publish here — anyone interested in visiting can simply click on your name. Thanks!

  5. Hey, fellow swimmers. This is more of note of thanks, than a request for help to fix a problem. To the entire wordpress family. What began as just me clearing my head, is turning into 1 of the best decisions I’ve made. Getting to share my understanding, I see your understanding helping others. Now my depressing blog has been invigorated by your presence. No need to agree, as long as you understand. Thanks again, for the inspiration. From testing the water, to going deep. Be well, my friends & Happy Blogging. #NOTHINGMatters but You

  6. Can anyone tell me how to meld two blogs? I started one but the name was too much used [barbsblog] so I started another [stanwatkins] and the few blogs on barbsblog need to be on the stanwatkins one. Actually neither is a good title which really invites the feedback I want about my father’s life and work. Any suggestions?

    1. I think your best bet for bringing together posts from one blog to another is exporting them — you can read more about it here:
      https://wordpress.com/support/export/#export-your-content-to-another-blog-or-platform

When exporting content from one WordPress.com blog to another, you can choose to export only posts, which you can then import to the site of your choice.

I should also note that you can always change your site title and/or blog address, as you’ll see by visiting this page:
      https://wordpress.com/support/changing-blog-address/

      Good luck with your blog(s)!

  7. Hello, all. I have been on WordPress off and on for quite a while mainly just publishing thoughts for myself to read later, never promoting my page, trying to make it look good, or fishing for views. But I thought about it a bit and perhaps some feedback would be valuable, if not even a little enjoyable. Below is a link to one of my posts, feel free to read it if you would like and let me know what you think.

  8. Hello everyone,
I am very new at blogging. Would like feedback’s from fellow bloggers. I always enjoy writing, but not always sure it’s very good. This is my first time that I write for others. I am French Canadian, and writing in English, is more of a challenge. But hope it is still good! Thank you in advance for your comments.

  9. Hi bloggers! So, I was unable to sleep last night, and upon my restlessness, I found myself typing “how to start a blog” into google. Now, here I am. Spontaneously committed to write relatable, inspiring, and motivational posts. Writing is my therapy. I have found it to be helpful to others in my life and hope to spread it into the blogging world. I’ll leave my site below, please feel free to critique and comment. I will definitely return the favor (now, I don’t know much about blogging, but I know good writing when I see it- or how to improve it!) thank you fellow bloggers 🙂
