Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Did you recently start your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?

Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).

To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips you might find useful:

TIP: To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.

  • While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
  • The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once!
  • If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
  • We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother.
  • Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
  • If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
  • No running on the deck.

    1. I’m sorry to hear that you did not place in the top 15.
I went ahead and read your story and in my honest opinion I thought it was great. Perhaps you could’ve painted a more vivid picture of the setting and brought more depth in body language and character. Other than that, I didn’t see anything wrong with it. I actually share the same interest in writing and decided to follow your blog 🙂
And since I went ahead and critiqued your story, would you mind doing the same for me? It would be very appreciated 🙂

  1. I sewed a Hobbes (best friend of Calvin) doll and started taking him with me when I travel. I would like to do a weekly photo post of this, but I’m not sure how to handle it. I wrote about the process and reasons of making Hobbes here, plus had pictures of our first adventure together.
What do you think of the pictures? Is the writing tone right for this type of project? I’ll be forever in your debt if you look over the post and help me out.

    1. Just checked out your blog. I love the idea of your travel companion. I have a friend who does that with a cute little doll she brings everywhere she goes. I can’t wait to see where your future travels are. I would love if you would check out my travel blog as well. The more visitor’s the merrier! Happy travels.

    2. I think the idea is fantastic! I recommend writing a few posts from Hobbes’ point of view. You can make them humorous, adventurous, anything. I think it would be interesting! 🙂

    1. Just checked out your blog. I like your writing. I think it is funny and interesting and informative. I would just suggest two things: 1) Perhaps consider placing an image or images in your posts to draw visual people’s eye to the posts and help draw them in to it, and 2) I would suggest you take a look at the widgets that are available to you. Your blog is aclean looking blog which could benefit from a search field, perhaps archives, categories, maybe links to your other social media…something to keep the viewer interested and to encourage them to click on other posts you have written in the past.

      1. I’m always open to checking out new blogs. I’ll head over there as soon as I can. I want to do it at a time when I can really look at everything, and right now is not that time (busy morning). See ya soon! 🙂

    1. To link to your own blog simply copy the url and paste it here. It’s always a good idea to think about who you want to write to. Sometimes that will kick-start your thought process. #2 Been doing a diligent search for paid product reviews. Started my own website but it’s more informative than a $-maker. I love writing reviews on products I’ve tried.

    Thanks again:)

    1. Hi! I enjoyed your blog very much, but I have here some thoughts. You have great writing, but I really wish you could write more. I don’t know if it was your intention, but it does seem more like a photo blog, which kinda confuses with the title The Inquisitive Writer. I love your photos, but I really want to see more of your writing.

      1. I know, I would like to write more..But here’s the problem: I am blogging about my trip to Aruba. I would like to have a travel blog, but I’m not a traveler. I would like to travel more, though. I also don’t have time to write. I started working and I just don’t have time. Thanks for the advice :-). I really needed it. You’re 100% right.

      3. Great post! All women struggle with confidence and loving themselves. I find myself fighting this battle as well after having two children! The only thing I would suggest fixing about your blog is getting a follow button. I would love to follow your post but I couldnt find a follow button anywhere. It could also be the fact Im new at Word press and dont exactly know what Im doing 🙂
