Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Did you recently start your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?

Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).

To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips you might find useful:

TIP: To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.

  • While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
  • The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once! We tend to delete duplicate comments asking for feedback on the same post.
  • If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
  • We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother.
  • Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
  • When leaving comments, please remember not to add your blog’s url as your signature. It’s kinda spammy: after all, your handle links directly to your blog.
  • If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
  • No running on the deck.

    1. Love the banner picture. Very captivating. You do have a duplicate posts. The second one from the top renders the pictures better. All your pictures make me want to experience the trip as you did. When you show multiple pics you may want to make them a gallery (maybe a lightbox) to keep from extra scrolling. It will also keep readers engaged in your written content as well. Unless your focus was more on the images. It was kind of hard to tell. You could also categorize your images (Views, food, architecture, etc.), Just things to think about.

Hope this helps. Keep up the good work.

  1. I published this post today and would love some feedback (feel free to leave a comment on the post 🙂 ): https://culturallife.wordpress.com/2015/06/01/like-it-or-not-language-is-changing/

I enjoy writing about language and linguistics (I’m an aspiring linguistics lecturer) , but I don’t want to put off readers with too much academic jargon. When I do use linguistic terms, I usually include an explanation. Does my post make sense?

    Liked by 1 person

    1. Yes, your post makes sense and is well written, but I don’t have to ‘like’ it. (I hate hearing the word like all the time.) I suppose I’m stuck with it. Bollocks. Thanks for the insight.

  2. Hello Everyone! I recently just started blogging and I was wondering if anyone has monetized their personal blogs in any way and could share some insight on how the process was for you? What worked, and what didn’t? Thanks a bunch!

    1. Hello:)
Welcome to blogging, enjoy the journey:)
I’ve really like your honesty in your posts, it makes you stand out and be unique! Some suggestions regarding blogging: decide what you want to blog about, you can always add things as you go along, write about what you love, categorise your posts, maybe work some more on your About page, your readers will want to know more, you’ve already on the right track so keep on going:)
Connect with others in these community pools because you will only get as much as you’ll give:)
      Hope it helps:)

    1. Hello:)
I really enjoyed reading your letters:)
I love your quotes, left a message on your blog!
As feedback, I think your blog looks very organised, I would add some pictures, make it more visual, you clearly know what you want to write about so just keep doing that:)
Maybe categorise your posts, it helps to find older ones easier.
Be yourself and your blog will develop and it will be unique in its own way:)
Hope to see more of your posts:)

    1. Heh, my blog would mostly be your worst nightmare. That said, your writing makes sense and is enjoyable to read without coming off as being preachy which is a nice change from most ‘health nuts’ I see/know. The alignment of the cake picture seems a little off to me, maybe. That’s probably just me, though.

      1. You are definitely NOT my worst nightmare. Your treats look delicious. I like ALL food healthy or not. Your creativity is fun and quirky. Its you and I love that about your blog. The picture is off. I think i uploaded it from my phone so its not just you. Cheers and thanks a lot.

    2. I think you have a good blog. You may want to make your paragraphs smaller ie., two to three sentences. People like blogs, but they don’t want to read long paragraphs. Do you have a Twitter account? Make sure to tweet each post about three times a day. Keep going!!

    1. Hey villpower! I read your post on MMFR and I liked your take on it. Obviously the creator of the Mad Max world understands it better than anyone else, and completely intended to do what he did with the characters. Great.

However, I’m wondering if English is your first language? Some of your sentences skip a word here and there, which for me detracts from a really great read!

If it’s possibly, try having someone look over your draft before you publish to help with that. Thanks!

      1. Thanks for reading and pointing out. You are correct. I am badly in need of someone who can proofread. I take care of going through few times before publish but I know that from writers POV sentence always make sense even with mistakes. 🙂 Thanks again.

  7. Hey guys! I was hoping I could get some advice on the layout of my site and how everything is set up? It’s a personal blog about things I’ve gone through and dates gone wrong. I’d really appreciate if anyone took the time to give me feedback.

I’m also looking for bloggers to do collaboration posts with. Would anyone be interested?

I recently posted about a thought I had on family and any feedback would be appreciated.

Also, feedback on my site design and content would be appreciated as well. Is my content of any interest/value or do you have any suggestions to improve my content? Thanks for any feedback or suggestions.

  9. Hi!

I hope your Monday is a good one. Came to the community pool to check out blogs! Thought I’d drop off my link too. We’re a fairly new blog about growing and eating real food. Our family of four is on a tight budget, but we do our best! Please stop by and give some feed back. Thank you in advance.

  10. Yay, it’s Monday and community pool day!

As a teenager, I thought I could offer an interesting perspective on the issue of dress codes in light of a recent protest in a Canadian high school. In addition to feedback about the post, I’d love some feedback about my blog theme and layout as I am thinking of changing it.

    1. Loved your perspective on this!
I live in India, and most people over here are OBSESSED with “appropriateness” of a girl’s attire. I didn’t know about this issue, and I’m not surprised it’s become such a big issue.
Your solution was pretty neat 🙂

  11. Hello fellow bloggers!! I recently created a blog for step moms and step families using my personal stories and other links as inspiration. I want my page to be a source of comfort and help, that as step moms, we are not alone. I DON’T want my page to feel like a bashing of my spouse’s ex wife..As if I just created this page to vent….. Also, there doesn’t seem to be a lot of step family pages out there…Should I appeal to ‘regular’ family pages as well? ANY feedback is appreciated!!! Thank you everyone!

    Liked by 1 person

    1. Blended families is the term you will find. Now you can appeal to all families because all family life is hard! Now if you vent negatively it will not draw any traction. Have a lesson in each story and tell the reader how it drew your family closer together. Just my opinion.

    1. A lovely start. If feel like we want to know more about you though, this is a very general start, but maybe that’s the way you want it to be? Nice authentic journal style anyway 🙂 Check out mine? http://www.thepresentmode.com

    2. As it’s only early days you might not have got round to it yet but it’s worth creating an ‘About’ page (unless it’s already there and I’m just being blind!). It’s nice for readers to find out a bit more about you, particularly if they enjoy your posts.

It’s a nice idea too. I’m a bit biased in terms of diaries/journals because I’ve always kept them but it’ll be good for you to look back on in a few years 🙂
