Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Did you recently start your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?

Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).

To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips you might find useful:

TIP: To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.

  • While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
  • The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once! We tend to delete duplicate comments asking for feedback on the same post.
  • If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
  • We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother.
  • Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
  • When leaving comments, please remember not to add your blog’s url as your signature. It’s kinda spammy: after all, your handle links directly to your blog.
  • If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
  • No running on the deck.

    1. what a great – inclusive- idea!

A great way to get people writing and an even better way to start a community where you are all linked to each other’s blogs.

Share the views! Share the likes! Super-cool.

    1. Its really great that you’ve got a blog started. keep on writing!
Just a few things to point out:

      1) An about page is really helpful to people who come across your blog and want to find out what exactly you are doing. Something quick about who you are and what your blog is about. That helps readers to connect to you.

2)I found the navigation of your page a little difficult. Also, the theme seemed over whelming to me and didn’t fit with the way you were writing posts.

Take that with a grain of salt if you want, I tried 15 different themes until I found the one that works (and even still I’m not sure if I like it)

      3) I like that your posts are short and sweet. The images are really cool too – they say a lot about who you are. I struggle with saying too much, so you are doing a really great job! keep it up.

    Hello people of WordPress.
I just started a page dedicated to writing and personal thoughts on certain matters either on my life, or the world around. I was just wondering what anyone’s thoughts were on posting story ideas or segments of a greater plot line. The constructive criticism is always welcome, but I’m a little worried about the thought of idea stealing.
    Thanks for reading! Happy writing.

    1. Laura- I love that your blog deals with faith and marriage in an honest, funny way. Authentic is the first word that comes to mind, and I think we need so much of that in the Christian world. Two of my favorite bloggers in the same vein are shauna niequest and Jen hatmaker. They are pretty famous, so you may already know them.
If you have a chance, would love your feedback on my blog – it deals with faith, and illness/disability as a young adult. Sounds depressing I know, but I try to throw some humor in there.

      1. Thank you so much for the feedback. I love that you felt my post/words were authentic. That word, for me, really sums up what I hope to do here…be authentic, true, genuine, even if or when its hard. I have read and actually had the opportunity to see Shauna Niequest speak a few years back. She is refreshing! I am not as familiar with Jen Hatmaker, I’ll have to check her out! Thanks for the suggestion.

Your writing style is easy to read and inviting. I could feel the positivity and authenticity as I was reading. You’re definitely starting out great! Check out my blog and let me know your opinion please. Thanks!

      1. Tenisha, thanks for the support! I just checked out your blog too! Looks great, and obviously we both have fabulous taste since we used the same theme:)
I read your article on the mommy melt-downs, I think every single one of us mothers can relate (and if anyone says they can’t, they’re lying! haha) I also really liked your post on what moms REALLY want for Mother’s Day, I couldn’t agree more with that list! Looking forward to reading more from you!

  2. Hi Everybody!
I would die for some feedback about my blog and my latest post about my trip to the 5 Seconds of Summer concert and my fangirling story. My blogs name is Bozemanandbozen.wordpress.com

    1. Leela – Thought your blog posed some interesting questions. The one thing I think that would be interested in adding (and I apologize if you have this somewhere already and I missed it) is why you are a feminist and what got you to care about the cause. I think that can sometimes draw readers in, especially if they have similar thoughts/experiences. But I like the ways you challenge your readers.

My blog is very different – deals with illness and disability as a young adult- but would love for you to check it out

    1. Teawithmonsters – read your most recent post and it definitely left me wanting to know more about Fred, which is great. It also brought me back to those days in elementary school when the class mob can quickly turn against you. Very evocative – which is what a good short story should be. If I would add something, maybe you could flesh out Fred’s emotions a little more? But you might have left them sparse on purpose, to keep the reader wondering…. Good job. If you have time, checkout my blog.

    1. Topics are short and sweet- it wasn’t totally clear to me what the ‘topic’ of your blog is. Focus is journalism? Also- it would be good if your readers could comment more easily and click ‘like’. Cheers!

  5. Good evening fellow bloggers! Wow, what an overwhelming and inspiring place to exist, to create and to share. If you are interested in checking out my blog I would love feedback on my writing/aesthetic/style if you have the time. So far my followers include friends and family and it is therefore challenging to get constructive criticism. Cant wait to connect with you and I look forward to experiencing your blogs as well 🙂 Best, Livia

      1. Thank you-it’s so great to hear a bit of encouragement! I must say that I really admire how you’ve mapped out your journey on your blog. I’m definitely still finding my feet with mine but I’ve always found writing to be therapeutic and enjoy reading the works of others who think similarly.

    2. I like your humorous and informative delivery. Most bloggers I follow post one or two entries a week, I guess it depends on the writer. You could also add a bit more about yourself on your main page. I really liked it though! Keep it up!!

    1. Hey Max! this is my type of blog, I really enjoyed it. The funny approach you take on serious history subjects makes it very interesting. I like the theme you have but you could choose colors that match a little bit better together 🙂 Subscribed! Cheers!

    2. Hi, Max. I loved reading this post. It was funny, snarky, and everyone can relate. (Special props for the caption under Joaquin Phoenix!). I wonder how that first paragraph would look if it were split into two? Because it’s your hook, breaking up that block of text visually would be nice.

  6. I am having a strange problem that nobody seems to be able to address. Have others experienced something similar? Since two weeks the email notifications from WordPress no longer come from my own blog (Thoolen) but from “Refugee Archives @ UEL” . Why??

    1. Your writing is very descriptive and detailed. It was interesting reading some of your work. I am by no means an expert in this whole blogging business but my suggestion would be to add more descriptive imagery or artwork to your writings to capture the mind of the reader. But I could be wrong if your intended approach is minimalistic. Again I am no expert, just my opinion.

Keep up the emotive writing. 🙂

      Cheers
      Chris.

      1. Thank you Chris, much appreciated 🙂 yeahs I try to find abstract drawings etc. to put with them. Mix between minimalistic and your suggestion. I’ll take it into consideration! :)))
Thanks for the kind words! And for taking the time to actually read my stuff
        Thanks!

  8. I am very new to the world of blogging. I started my blog as a way of expressing myself and sharing my writing, and maybe even inspiring a few people. It would be greatly appreciated if I could get some feedback on the layout of my page. I’m curious to know if it’s smooth, reads well, and portrays what I’m looking for in a blog. Please feel free to read a couple of my posts to see if what I write is also portraying (in a simple, easy to read way) myself, my life, and my wants to inspire. Thank you all so much for your time, and I’m looking forward to what you have to say.
