Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Did you recently start your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?

Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).

To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips you might find useful:

TIP: To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.

  • While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
  • The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once! We tend to delete duplicate comments asking for feedback on the same post.
  • If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
  • We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother.
  • Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
  • When leaving comments, please remember not to add your blog’s url as your signature. It’s kinda spammy: after all, your handle links directly to your blog.
  • If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
  • No running on the deck.

  1. Hi guys!

I’m a Norwegian art student, and I recently started a homepage/non-blog/portfolio where I publish my artwork. I’m working and experimenting with different medias, like installation, sculpture, video and illustration, and would really like to get some feedback on my works.

Should I write more about the idea behind each work, or do you think it is better to keep it simple? How do you think the layout is working? Going to replace the header pretty soon, so stay tuned!

I would also love get in touch with other artists and art bloggers, so please give me a wink if you are one.

Sorry for re-posting – but I forgot to add my blog, which is http://www.justapartystudent.wordpress.com. See you soon!

  2. Hello Everyone! I’m hoping to get some feedback on my blog. It’s a knitting/crochet blog that I’ve been doing since last fall. The issue I’m having is that I’m really passionate about my craft (which is why I started the blog), but I’d like to incorporate more content. The trouble is that the name is very limiting, and I also don’t want my blog to be too scattered. Should I change the name, or just write about more topics and hope my knitting followers don’t mind? Really, any feedback would be appreciated!

    1. Hi Lindsey,
Your blog is great, love the theme and all the photos. I must say I don’t knit but I enjoyed reading and watching how you do certain things. I will definitely try and make that Shredded Mexican Chicken soon. I don’t think your followers would mind reading about your Disneyland trip or recipes every once in a while, but you could change one of the words of the name or just start by changing the ‘ADVENTURES IN YARN AND OTHER STUFF’. See how it works.

    2. I realise I forgot what you said and rambled in my comment on your blog!
I think adding your life stories wouldn’t hurt, it’s your blog. Growing an audience is hard and I’ve personally added more and more to my blog over time, what was once a pregnancy blog is now a parenting/trying to conceive/crafts/life in general/photography blog!
Doing what the previous commenter said it’s pretty perfect really. Update your about to include that you’ll be sharing life-this bits and you’re all systems go 🙂

  3. Happy Monday bloggers!

I’m a writer of short fiction, roughly based on my experiences as a 24-year old. I would love for some feedback and some comments. What do you like about my posts? What could be better? Is there something about the look/feel that seems off?

I’d be happy to help all others who check out my blog. Thanks in advanced!

  5. I just started my blog about action figures and what not. First off, I love how wordpress is formatted and how easy it is to use. Hopefully I could get feedback if I should change my layout or not. It took a long to time to choose the one I have, but I would like to have a layout that attracts more readers.

  6. Look, another Monday has come and gone! Luckily, Tuesday always follows. Anyhow, I started my blog a year ago and kind of abandoned it. I recently have added more posts and could really use any type of feedback. I would like the layout a little more fun and I have never heard anything about my writing. I would appreciate the comments. Thank You! -Mariah

      1. Thank you so much for visiting. One thing i have done, like with the parenting stuff, is gotten many friends and some strangers to guest post to expand the topic reach and let the experts share their stuff… so have built up some really great stuff over the years…

    1. I suggest using photos or images, they make it much more appealing for strangers.
It seems like you’re already up and running, I would just suggest to keep posting and participating in the community like you already are… all things come in due time.

  8. Hi everyone. I’m new to blogging but I love to write. I’m an English major and would like to publish my own novel. In between that though, I’ve decided to start my own blog. Would love if you guys could check out my blog posts and share your opinions. (In other words, let me know how I’m doing even if you don’t think I’m doing too well)

    1. hey there! I like your use of language. However, I feel if would have been better if you wrote about your interesting life experiences and beef it up with your use of language. You’d definitely soar to greater heights!

    2. Hi,
I like your writing style a lot and wish you luck!
I’m wondering what your goal is for wp…
To tell stories? As a journal? To build up to your novel?
I ask because each would use different methids of categories & tags, using imagery, and participating in various communities.
Not that you need to explain yourself to anyone.

    1. Hey Sketchy,

Love the blog and the theme.
The theme is perfect for showing off your imagery with a quick explanation, with the bonus of not needing to leave the main page.
      Great work!

    2. I think the design you have now matches perfectly with your sketches; white background, subte and allows us to engage right away with your art! Loved it by the way!! great work.

    1. Great post for a first post. If that was a true story, then how tragic but if it was just a piece of writing then well done. Greatly crafted. A piece that long is normally too long and needs pictures or headings or something to break it up cos peoples’ attention span online is much shorter but i found that the writing held me and so it really was well done.

Keep on – experiment, play around til you figure out what you want it to be

Bloggers love to support their own, least that is what I have observed here. Let’s face it, support, likes, comments..we all love them! With that said, I would appreciate if even a handful of my fellow bloggers here would look at my own blog. I’d be happy to return the favor!

    1. You have a really well presented blog and I’m sure it’s going to look even better with more content. I like that you are asking people to choose poetry too. It would be nice to see learn more about you in your “about me” page.

  13. Bianca, I like the poem. The words are simple, but the imagery they create is powerful. I also like the title of your blog: Stumbling for Balance. Why don’t you change the url to that? I find it to be very intriguing and inviting. Isn’t that what we’re all doing in life? Stumbling for balance? Love it!
