Community Pool

The place for advice, feedback, and friendly blogging conversation.

Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Did you recently start your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?

Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).

To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips you might find useful:

TIP: To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.

  • While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
  • The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once! We tend to delete duplicate comments asking for feedback on the same post.
  • If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
  • We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother.
  • Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
  • When leaving comments, please remember not to add your blog’s url as your signature. It’s kinda spammy: after all, your handle links directly to your blog.
  • If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
  • No running on the deck.

      1. Thanks so much for the comment! I am so glad that the post was helpful for you, especially if you travel a lot! You can actually order the oils directly from me! Here is one of my blog pages about oils, with direct links to my website for easy, quick ordering via the website and delivered straight to your door. Look near the bottom under “Where Can I Find More Information?” On my linked website, there is also a place where you can contact me with any questions you might have! Thanks again for your comment and interest. I really appreciate the feedback you gave, both on thread and on my blog!

  2. Hi Everyone,

I’ve always enjoyed writing but have only recently started my own blog. Could I get some feedback on the writing style and generally whether you think it is a sustainable project.

I am going to continue with my own story but also have plans to write supporting articles that will hopefully be of more practical use for other parents.

I look forward to hearing any feedback you may have and checking out your blogs 🙂

Here’s hoping I’m good enough to get some of you to follow me too 🙂

    1. You have the cutest baby girl! I think blogging is a great stress reliever and support system. It most definitely is a sustainable project if you don’t feel forced to contribute. Blogging should be a natural extension of your lifestyle and a breath of fresh air 🙂 Hope that helps! Check mine out at https://itsdollydarling.wordpress.com/ 🙂 I’d love feedback too!

      1. Thanks so much for your kind words and feedback. You’re right about not feeling forced to contribute – I often feel like I need to write (I do because I’m still writing from the past!) but I just don’t have the motivation – actually not motivation, just severe mental block! I have read and followed you – love the short, snappy posts and loving the humour you put into your posts. I look forward to reading more 🙂

      2. Hi Kira, I can’t wait to see it! I love watching an artists creation come out in their work. I have no artistic ability whatsoever so it’s always a trip to see what people can come up with!

    1. Hi there, I would recommend some images on your blog and an about page to make it more personal to you – it looks a little blank at the moment! Lovely ideas though!

  4. Good day, everyone!

Contrary to what I’ve heard from others, I had a wonderful experience applying for a Brazilian visa at the Consulate General of Brazil.

I would love to have comments on the site! Have any of you applied for a visa there?

  5. Hi WP Community!

My blog was “just born” last week.

There is not a lot yet to critique, however, I would like to get some feedback on the idea behind the blog as defined in About This Blog; the first on-topic article “School’s Out FOREVER?!” (Which it a little me-centric – most other posts will not be this way); and the Resources page – which is evolving as I find more great resources.

As I get better with the WP interface, I want to better isolate the Writing 101 posts (or maybe I will just take them off completely.) They were mostly to help me get disciplined w/writing.

I’m new to the blogging world and am struggling to get a reader base. I realize this is a generic request but I would love if anyone has the time to take a few minutes, check out the general layout and read a few posts I would love some feedback!
    Thanks 🙂

    1. Hi Lisa!
I liked your posts and the way that you write. It’s fun, easy to read and your personality really shows through! I love your banner but have you considered a different theme? I think your banner is fun and matches your blog but once you scroll to the posts that’s all lost. Just a thought 🙂 Otherwise cool blog and I just followed you!

  8. Hi there! Just changed the layout of my blog and would love any comments (does it fit with what I write about etc). Also any comments about the specific posts would be appreciated. I just want to know if its too long or not enough photos etc thanks ❤
I'm also looking for more blogs to follow namely about travels, photography, food and if you live in New Zealand!

    1. Hey girl,
I love your blog, very diverse and relevant. The theme seems to suit you and I love that you have a photo of yourself at the top (seems more personal that way). You’re writing is great too. My only advice would be to mayeb have your photos a little bigger in you posts? They seems a little small and feel out of place at that size.
      Keep up the good work!

  9. Hi Community Pool.

I’m new to blogging and I’m still getting a feel for the genre and where I’d like to fit in this space. I write mostly about education for educators. Please have a look at my new-born blog (it’s only about a month old), and let me know if I’m heading in the right direction. Feel free to comment on specific posts on the blog, or if you have general advice, comment here. Thanks.
