Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Did you recently start your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?

Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).

To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips you might find useful:

TIP: To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.

  • While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
  • The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once!
  • If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
  • We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother.
  • Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
  • If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
  • No running on the deck.

  1. Hello I am very new to blogging and to word press… Basically I am doing this because I want to spread hope and awareness with an insidious disease that is plaguing the world, and that is Trichotillomania… Even if I can help just one person, this will make all my efforts worth it. Please help me by checking out my blog http://www.lifeaftertrich.wordpress.com your feed back will be much appreciated!

  2. This is such a great idea! I was just wondering how you guys draw readers in, how long my posts should be around and how I can network my blog? Check it out and leave me some comments on my page, I would really appreciate it guys 🙂

    1. Regarding how long to leave posts on your blog, it depends on the purpose of your blog. If you are intending to share current information only, you could delete older ones. On the other hand, if your provide information that is not time sensitive, you could leave them permanently. To network your blog, (1) Set it up to automatically Share to your social media accounts, (2) Visit blogs similar to yours and leave comments on some of their posts, (3) Put your blog URL as part of your signature in your emails. http://gracelead.co

    2. Small amount of feedback: The font size is quite small, its alright for me but I know many of the other readers/ bloggers might struggle a little. Also maybe use a ‘Read More’ tag to keep a lot of the text off the home page? Then people can click on the posts to see the full reviews etc.
I like the use of .gif images though, they really help to liven a blog up!

      1. Thank you for the feedback! It’s very helpful seeing as I usually focus a lot on the content and not a lot on how my audience is perceiving said content. Thank you so much!

    1. I have a self hosted site. I use the WP editor to post my blogs. The only thing that is an actual benefit is I have my own blogsite…whoopsie, right? I don’t think self hosting is such a great advantage. for example, if someone wants to follow my blog it is a pain to do so..they have to copy my addy into a special place in the wp reader. Also wp is free as I understand it…I have to pay a fee for my domain. so far as increasing traffic? this is better in wp for that I think. comment on people’s posts and they will more than likely return the favor.

  3. Hello everybody
I just started blogging . Literal!y have just two posts. Please comment on the content of my posts . Is it a good read , is the language proficient ?
The technical aspects are a mission and a half ! Will learn how to customise my blog , add videos and make the keypad write what I command it to write , it tends to have a mind of its own.

    Your help is appreciated

  4. Hey everyone!
I haven’t blogged in years, and the last time it was more for a campaign and less for just…well, me! It would really be great if you guys could read one of the two posts and tell me what you think–any feedback, whether writing or layout.
Commenting directly on my blog page would be lovely, as then it’ll actually show people that at least one person has read it! (even if it was just to provide feedback 🙂
Thank you to anyone who helps me out in advance–I really appreciate it!

    1. LOL…………you write beautifully. the layout is fine. ONLY suggestion for you is to consider using the “read more” option in the editor before posting. People could be offput by the length of the postings.

  8. Hi fellow bloggers! I haven’t blogged for 2 years and when I decided to open my blog again, I was surprised to receive 2 comments which are actually invitations or engagements to materialize my blog (in form of consultation and workshop teaching)! I didn’t realize until now how long it takes to really ‘brew’ a blog. I’m asking for your help in improving my blog, and writing content that readers would want to read. Thanks a lot!

    1. Hi there!

I really like your blog. I like the style of your writing and the beautiful photography which makes it stand out, as a travel blog. However, I would advise you to use more contrasting colors for the main body of the text to make it stand out and be easier to read 🙂 just a small formatting point, but can make a big difference.

I am a newer blogger who enjoys writing about a variety of topics. Would you mind giving me a shot?

    1. Very informative! I think for the point you’re trying to convey, your first post is well written. I would love to read some short and simple ways to help the environment. I know many people find it impossible because they think that it’s only the large things, like not driving, that make an impact, but that’s not true. Keep it up! I look forward to reading more!

    2. Hi Daniel – really like the writing. I like the fact that has wit and fact in it to keep people interested. My only query is whether you can keep with the blog format – how often would you be able to post tips and what happens when you run out?! Part of me wondered if the tips would be better as pages – a page on saving energy at home, one while driving etc and leaving the blog posts for opinion and providing news etc because it’s obviously a subject that you’re very passionate about.

Maybe you’re full of ideas and it’s just my lack of knowledge, so I’ll keep an eye out!

  13. I am also a blogger beginner, started mine here not long ago. I have been writing before, but only for me, and sometimes it is more than a diary. I decided to bring it to public sometimes last summer and here on WordPress in the beginning of this year 🙂 I know mine is not perfect, and I honestly have not spent too much time editing the style of my site or how it created the first impression, mostly the time I spent onto contents, as I’d like to think I write for me, most importantly. This is not to say I don’t welcome any of your feedback if you have time to check my blog out 🙂 Maybe I am doing everything wrong, I never know. Thanks all!

    1. I know positive feedback is not always the best feedback, but I really enjoyed your blog. I like how it feels part of the site over all, if that makes sense. It’s not just an add on, and it doesn’t feel like the main bit with the shop side tagging along. It’s got a really nice balance. And I love the layout – the logo is great.
