Community Pool

The place for advice, feedback, and friendly blogging chatter.

Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Did you recently start your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?

Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).

To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips you might find useful:

TIP: To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.

  • While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
  • The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once!
  • If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
  • We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother.
  • Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
  • If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
  • No running on the deck.

  2. Hi there everyone,
I have recently set up a photo blog to present my best pictures and show the world what I see through my camera – https://sallywiddowsonphotography.wordpress.com
don’t let the dates on the blog fool you, I have backdated some posts so I could include some favourites! I’d love any comments on layouts, and advice please on including a copyright notice somewhere (how do I do that?!?) also does anyone have tips on attracting followers as I have none yet!

    Many thanks,

    Sally

  3. Hi everyone,

My blog is quite new and I’ve only done three posts so far. The first post – “the three types of hand shakers” – seem to get more views than the other two.

I was wondering if this was because the first post was more readable and entertaining than the other two?

I would very much appreciate if you could have a look at my blog and provide some feedback please!

    1. Hi Taylor,

That’s a great reason to start your blog, we could all do with some more kindness in the world.

My advice would be to possibly make your blog posts a little shorter, and maybe break them down into smaller paragraphs with an image here or there. It can be hard to read big chunks of text on a screen, especially if it’s a small device like a tablet or a phone. I hope that is some help.

Finally, I LOVE the name of your blog, great choice!

      Good luck blogging!

  6. Hi everybody!
I’ve been blogging now for a little bit more than two months. I took both courses blogging 101 and 201, and they were amazing and very useful. I learnt a lot. I guess now I’m doing pretty good, still I think it might be the right moment to ask for some feedbacks. The blog looks good to me, but I’d love to hear what are your impressions and I’d like to receive any kind of suggestion from much more expert bloggers, to try to improve it. I’ll accept any kind of remark, in fact it’s what I’m looking for. Thank you all in advance!

  8. Hi everyone,

I am a historical romance writer and have my blogsite up and running for nearly two years, but due to shyness have only recently begun to really put myself out there in the blogging community! Turns out it was much easier than I expected because everybody is just so nice and friendly. 🙂

I have just put up a new blog post about having an identity crisis (!) and would be very grateful if you would take the time to have a look and respond at this link:

If you don’t feel like commenting on that particular topic, I absolutely welcome all general feedback on my website too.

I’m now going to toddle off and have a look at the other blogs posted up here. Looking forward to connecting with you!

  9. Hey everyone,

I hope some of you have time to tell me what they think of my latest blog post. I examine the problem with arab men and dominance. Love to hear your opinions.

  10. Hello wordpressers!

I took a break from posting on my blog as I was struggling with some writers confidence issues over the past few months, much the same as I’m sure many of you have gone through throughout your writing processes as well. I’ve been writing just not posting, but I’ve decided to just get back into it and just focus on getting better at the craft! I just posted three new pieces of varying length to my page and I’d love to get feedback from you guys! Any and everything would help. By no means is it brilliant but I hope you guys have as much fun reading them as I did writing them. Any comments on my older stuff is also welcomed.

    Thanks everyone!

    1. Hi Klenn,

It’s great that you have got back into writing again – it can be easy to lose confidence but there is a lot of joy in finding it again!

I have a couple of recommendations about the layout of your website. You have two ‘About’ pages which both say the same thing – why don’t you use one of them to give us some different information or maybe change it into a ‘Contact Me’ page? Also, while I really like the circle windows for each post, it can make it difficult to read the titles for each piece. I wonder is there a way to adjust the words within the circles so we can read the full titles?

Congratulations on producing so much content for your website and best of luck with it!
