The place for advice, feedback, and friendly blogging chatter.
Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Did you recently start your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?
Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).
To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips you might find useful:
TIP: To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.
- While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
- The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once!
- If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
- We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother.
- Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
- If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
- No running on the deck.

hi everyone, I have only just found this “pool”, its a great idea and I’d like to jump in!
I put together this post about the recycling policy of my local welsh council, specifically directed towards joining a group that I thought would welcome me with open arms – smile
http://julzcrafts.com/2015/02/03/a-slice-of-life-the-big-bin-swap-recycling-in-the-swansea-valley-wales/
however, they rejected me, because they thought I was just using them – I wasn’t, I was hoping to find an audience for this post, yes, but only because I thought school kids might find it interesting to hear about how other countries work.
So, could I ask anyone who cares to – to read it – and perhaps suggest where I could link into another group who might like to take it seriously and pass it along to schools, or whatever groups, who might be interested in using it as a lesson resource. I am not a teacher, just to make that clear, but should that matter?
thanks

I haven’t exactly found a consistent voice that I blog in: I like to write about parenting, my faith, education and being a teacher, being a coach’s wife.
My latest post is a parenting article: “On Little Boys and ADD/ADHD: a candid look on a tired debate.”
Question: Is this piece helpful, relatable, and relevant OR do I come across as trivial and whiny?

How do I control which photo is displayed from my blog when it is posted to other social media sites? I spend a lot of time looking for the right photo and the right place to put the photo. And on the blog post site it looks fine to me. However, when it is posted to say Facebook or Google Plus the featured photo will inevitably be one that I don’t like as much. This is a prime example: https://xteriordesign.wordpress.com/2015/02/05/this-year-refuse-to-pull-weeds-from-your-flower-beds/
When this was posted to Facebook the featured photo was of the logo and it wasn’t sized or cropped correctly any help or suggestions will be appreciated. .

I’m afraid this isn’t something you can control from the WordPress.com side of things as it depends on the other platforms’ way of uploading and presenting your posts. If the image choice is crucial to you, you could post to Facebook and Google+ manually, choosing the correct image there.

I wrote a post about baking and my question is, should I have shared the recipe on here too. I did not want the post to get too long. Opinions appreciated, thanks.

I love the late night cooking! You could create another post with the recipe, and link it to the photo of the brownies–mentioning that in the post. That way if people want the recipe, they can click the photo and go straight to the recipe 🙂 I love the photos! Wonderful post!

Thank you Jim. That is a great idea, I will do that. I enjoyed being in the kitchen late at night, knowing everyone else is probably asleep. I might have to do that more often.

Good evening to you all! I’ve got everything up and running, and I’m looking for some layout suggestions for the posts. I can’t quite get the ‘look/feel’ of the posts to sit well. Anyways, take a look and let me know what works and what doesn’t! I’ll happily do the same for you 🙂

I personally would enjoy some of your photos on a bit larger of a scale. Maybe consider enlarging some of them to break up text block? Just a thought! 🙂
