New to blogging? Build a solid foundation — and make some new friends — in Blogging 101.
New to blogging, and not sure where to start? Never fear, Blogging 101 is here! Fun and free, the next edition of our popular introductory course begins on Monday, January 5 — read on for the details and to register.
Blogging 101 is four weeks of daily bite-size assignments that take you from “Blog?” to “Blog!” — along with a supportive community to encourage you all the way through. At the end of the course, you’ll have a blog you’re proud and excited to publish, and that others are excited to read. Here’s how it works:
- Assignments fall into three broad categories — publishing posts and pages, customizing your blog, and engaging with the community — and are designed to build on one another.
- We’ll post a new assignment here on The Daily Post each weekday at 12AM GMT. Each assignment will contain all the inspiration and instructions you need to complete it. Weekends are free (but we’ll suggest some ways you might want to spend them).
- Participants will have a private community site, the Commons, for chatting, connecting, and seeking feedback and support. Daily Post staff and Happiness Engineers will be on hand to answer your questions and offer guidance and resources.
You’ll walk away with six (or more!) published posts and a handful of drafts, a customized theme that reflects your personality, a small but growing audience, a good grasp of blogging etiquette — and a bunch of new online friends.
Registration is closed, but Blogging 101 will be back in February!

if you need other people to tell you what to do, then that may be more of a problem.

Blogging U. courses are really informal — feel free to try it out, and if it doesn’t seem helpful, drop it. These are very flexible, open programs.

Hello Red, that’s funny i often got called red as I have dark auburn hair. Anyway I digress, did you want me to look at your blog to give feedback on its layout etc? If so, the thing that jumped out to me, was that there are no side bars, which feels odd. Normally when you look at a blog there is an obvious area where there is a follow button, search, categories etc etc, some people put their social media up there too. if you are doing 101 you will learn all of this, but this is what jumped out at me. What else jumped out at me is your header, its really beautiful, did you make that? Well done, I hope you enjoy 101 and make a tonne of friends xxx

Thanks for the feedback, I’ll be sure to look into adding some more features. I decided to call myself Red to stick to the colour theme, it’s weird that you often got called red as well. And I used the customisation to add hearts and change the colours to make it more my own, thank you.
I hope I make some friends too, thank you again. 🙂
Love From,
Red

It’s the “s” in the “https” triggering a warning in your browser — you can either just delete the “s” (it’s totally safe, I promise), or fill out the form right in this post instead (eg, by visiting the post on The Daily Post rather than using the link in the email).

I started my blog last year and I have managed to be as regular with it as I could be. But I believe there’s a scope to do better and I would really like to reach out and connect to more bloggers like myself, get some views on my post and expand my network. I hope this course helps.

The post stated we would get the welcome email sometime before the course starts. Not right away. I had to go back and reread that par tfor myself because I too was a little confused.

I signed up last week but still have not received an informational e-mail, should I sign up again or are the e-mails going out this weekend?
LikeLiked by 1 person
The post says the welcme emails would be sent sometime before the beginning of the course, so I’m thinking either today or tomorrow we should get something.

I signed up for the course–no problem.
But I didn’t see a “take a survey link” which several commenters referenced–hope this won’t be a problem, regarding my enrollment.
Thanks.

There should be a form that appears below the text, which asks for your name, email address and blog URL. If not, I’d suggest trying a different web browser. Hope you can find it!

Hi !
I have just registered, but I just just making sure that I can still participate.
I am a starting blogger but I would prefer to remain anonymous on my blog for several reasons.
On the registering form I signed up with my name, but I was just checking I am still able to participate if I use my name for this but keep my blog page anonymous.
Thanks 🙂

Sure, the registration is just so we can email you with all the details/instructions, which will happen over the weekend.
