Community Pool

The place for advice, feedback, and friendly blogging chatter.

Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Did you recently start your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?

Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).

To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips you might find useful:

TIP: To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.

  • While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
  • The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once!
  • If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
  • We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother.
  • Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
  • If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
  • No running on the deck.

  1. My pingbacks to the daily prompts and photo challenges have stopped working and the DP is no longer linking to my page. I’ve checked that the links are http and not https. They’re correct. They’ve always worked and now they’ve stopped.

Pingbacks & trackbacks are enabled on the posts. Can you guess what might be wrong? Is there a rule about DP not linking to blogs that have the occasional curse word? I’m starting to get the idea that I’ve been blacklisted or something Although that would make very little sense to me, as my content is not the least bit vulgar.

Any help will be appreciated. Thanks! 🙂

      1. Thanks for taking the time to look Karen! Yes, I wouldn’t really class them as cartoons either, just interested to see if people thought the content and layout etc were attention grabbing enough. Not sure Im highbrow enough for regular satire!

        Thanks

  2. I would like some feedback on my blog. I have a couple of post. I have read some of the blogs posted here and enjoyed them. I never thought of myself as a blogger but I hope to continue this and improve. I work full time and don’t get to post as often as I would like. Please visit at karencancanoe.wordpress.com

    1. Hi Karen,

I thought your post about Ingrid was great; I began the first paragraph sceptically when you mentioned dogs in heaven straight off the bat, but your account of life with her was written with such steely, determined warmth, that I was won over within a few paragraphs. I appreciate it’s difficult to write with such emotional depth regularly, just post when a subject is unavoidable.

  3. Hmm, I’m new to blogging as well. To be honest, I’m not sure if I’m actually doing it right, I’m kinda wanting to keep on track of my achievements and such. A track of what I encounter as a new PhD student etc. Also what I see and what I do and where I go. I believe that this might be a form of motivation for me in some way 😀

  4. Greetings Internet!
After months of contemplating starting up a fashion blog of my own, I’ve actually done it. My journey into the deep unknown world of blogging has begun!

I’ve done a little simple starter post that I’d love y’all to check out and I’d also love some feedback on my layout and page in general! There’s not much on there since I started it today but any feedback would be brilliant and I’ll do the same in return!

    Many Thanks

  6. Hi guys! I just opened my blog (https://atouristinyourcity.wordpress.com/) and I’m very happy and excited about it but…
    I have a little problem!
I’m posting in Italian, as I believe that it’s better for my topic, but I would like to insert a translation as well, so that everyone could read.
Obviously I can’t do it under every post, so is there a way? A “translate button” or something that I could insert??
Please helo meee! In this way i could also ask for your feedback, which I can’t at the moment as I can’t demand everyone to study Italian!:P

  7. Is 20 followers in 3 months good? I started my blog Nafisa Reviews Everything as a review blog, but I realised that I’m better at poetry and depression blogs. Will the title affect my audience? I currently have no comments on my blog. Can someone please advise me on what improvements I should be making?
