Community Pool

The place for advice, feedback, and friendly blogging chatter.

Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Did you recently start your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?

Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).

To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips you might find useful:

TIP: To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.

  • While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
  • The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once!
  • If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
  • We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother.
  • Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
  • If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
  • No running on the deck.

  1. Hey everyone! I’m in my mid teens and would love to get my blog going a bit faster,
My blog is all about my art, my influences in art and how I create it all:) I would love any feedback from anyone on my artwork as I’m looking to become a better artist all of the time!
Any questions or queries on my art I will answer as well! 🙂

    1. Fantastic artwork, for someone like myself whose complete lack of artistic ability means I struggle to draw a simple stickman drawing then your talent leaves me astounded!

The Slash portrait is a superbly detailed picture of the man and displays an incredible amount of talent. Also the colorful Florian Nicole inspired portraits are fantastic and that sort of colour composition looks excellent on your blog when displayed on a computer screen unlike some art which can lose some of its power when seen on screen. I would suggest that perhaps you might consider therefore including some more related artworks to your blog perhaps with other bold or neon streaked designs.

Very interesting to hear about the influences behind each artwork as well and look forward to future posts. Keep up the great work!

    2. First of all, I am in awe. Your talent is masterful and incredibly well-rounded for someone still in their teens. I was thinking how your blog could be like a frame for your artwork. Assuming you’re friends with Photoshop, some ideas you could consider are (1) editing your images prior to publishing, as in, just sharpening and lightening them, so they’re clearer (2) resizing them so they’re consistent, reinforces the idea of a portfolio (3) design your own social media buttons? I hope you don’t mind my suggestions, you’re so gifted, it doesn’t make sense to not create a platform wherein your pieces can shine even brighter 🙂 p/s I lived in Singapore for close to 12 years and was blessed to visit FZD several times for work purposes.

  2. Two pronged question: I hit 100 postings on my Christian-focused job seeking blog. Readers send LinkedIn responses, but I have very few followers. Blog: wordsmatterblogspot.wordpress. Please help with:
    1. Any good, bad, etc. feedback (we can swap reviews).
    2. Advice on using a blog as a business growth tool.

  3. Hey everyone, just taken my first foray into blogging with my site http://www.thebestteamlost.com where I am trying to write entertaining and lighthearted football satire articles in the style of mini mock news briefings.

I would really welcome your feedback on the stories and it would be great to hear if anybody else beside myself actually finds them remotely amusing! Any suggestions for improvement or general advice would be very gratefully received.

  10. Hey fellow bloggers! I recently started my blog called V’S WURLD and I was wondering if you wouldn’t mind giving it a quick glance over and tell me what you think! I’m especially fond of my most recent post “You’re A Gem” and it would be fantastic if you could read it over and tell me what you think! Also, any comments on my blog in general, plus follows are always welcome as well! Welp, here’s my link! http://vswurld.wordpress.com

    1. I do appreciate the way you write, very descriptive and filled with emotion. I would suggest breaking up long posts with images though. And tweaking your layout, so you show previews of posts with featured images, rather than the entire piece. That allows you to display more posts per page, and your readers need not scroll all the way down to read the next post. As you continue to write, you may also wish to consider creating categories, so it makes for ease of navigation. Last words – you need to teach me how to create those animated GIFs 🙂

      1. Thanks for the feedback and I will defintely work on tweaking the template of my blog to fit those requests! Also, I have a tumblr blog and all the animated GIFs are from there, however I know there are GIF generators and I’ve been wanting to create a few of my own that way too!
