The place for advice, feedback, and friendly blogging chatter.
Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Did you recently start your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?
Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).
To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips you might find useful:
TIP: To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.
- While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
- The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once!
- If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
- We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother.
- Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
- If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
- No running on the deck.

If I could describe your blog in one word it would be: wow. Your energy is displayed through your writing and I believe that is very, very important and you have accomplished something that I have yet to accomplish: a nice flow when it comes to writing.
Also, I love the variety of the subjects on your blog, your determination, your strength, everything about it is appealing to me. That you have the courage to write about such a sensitive subject.
I really wish you the best & I would love to read more of your posts because you are really inspiring ♥

I am working on an insurance blog geared toward answering frequently asked questions about insurance policies, avoiding claims, and what to expect during things like audits or accidents. My goal is to make the articles informative without bogging the reader down with industry jargon.
I would love any feedback you can give on making the content more engaging, the use of humor in business blogs, or general things with the way I have formatted or displayed the content that would make it more reader-friendly.

Any tips for getting people to comment and interact with my blog? I don’t want to ask questions as that’ll be embarrassing if nobody answers them. Any ideas?

Hello, simple question from a newbie. When making most you keep adding to that post? Not sure how that works. I have noticed a few which made you do a lot scrolling up and down? Or a certain amount and just add another post/page to link the continue post and such. Things I have to grasp before I delve into anything. Keeping mine in draft till put all the pieces together. Thanks

Goodness me! I guess it’s too late for me to get mine looked at. 😦 Just updated my first ever yesterday. Obviously still very new… can use whatever help I can get!
I don’t even know how to allow users to comment without having to sign in, which is something I read is a bad idea. Seems to make sense… but how to do it!

Hi flipingstones —
First, you’re not late — the Community Pool is a weeklong event, with a new one posted every Tuesday.
Second, commenters have to sign in to comment by default, so you don’t have to worry about that.

Hi. So I just started a blog, and I know it’s not very good yet, but I was wondering if I could get some tips from more experienced people. You don’t even have to read any of my posts, I’d just like some pointers for someone who’s just starting out.

That’s an interesting theme (style) for your page. It’s very quick to load (a plus – readers won’t like waiting) and clean. Perhaps if you moved the content to one side or the other, and add a few widgets for things you care about? Take a look at my blog and you’ll see what I mean.

I’m not sure if this is a question or a bug report. When I go to the “Reader” page for blogs I’m following, and want to comment on any of them, when I click on “Comment” the comment box pop-up works fine. But when I click in the box to put my cursor there, the comment box partially collapses on itself, and when I start typing it completely disappears.
I’m using a Win7 Pro computer on a 64-bit architecture, using Firefox as a browser. Any ideas what’s up?

Hello all,
I would love to get some feedback on my post : spider’s wisdom.
You don’t have to like the content but I would like to know:
– does my writing pull you in? why or why not?
– some general or specific advice?
– is the post too long or too short?

Hi Priya, I read your article, and you have good content and style, but the font is very small, that I found reading difficult. My vision is 20/20, so it would be even harder for someone whose eyes weren’t so good.
Your personal art makes me smile.
Your posts in themselves are attractive with the images you include, but the background is very white. Perhaps a little background color or another theme to add some warmth?
Namaste. 🙂

I like your writing style. It’s descriptive and refreshing! Two things however: are these supposed to be short stories or are these personal posts? Either way, they’re well done. The second thing is watch how big your paragraphs are. I’m a skimmer when it comes to reading things on my laptop or phone. I would try to make them smaller so that people who skim like me will be able to retain more of the content.
I look forward to seeing more of your posts!
