Want to flex your blogging muscles and take on a new challenge? Get ready for Writing 101: Building a Blogging Habit, starting Monday, June 2.
Feeling a bit bereft now that Blogging 101 and 201 have wound down, or just looking for a way to cultivate good writing habits? Never fear, Writing 101 is here! (Well, it will be here, starting June 2.) Our next Blogging U. challenge moves away from the technical and design aspects of blogging to focus on your content. Writing 101: Building a Blogging Habit is a write-every-day challenge designed to help you create a writing habit while publishing posts that mesh with your blog’s focus and push you a bit as a writer. Here’s how it works:
- We’ll post a new writing assignment just for Writing 101 each weekday in June here on The Daily Post. Assignments will publish at 10:00AM EST (14:00PM GMT).
- There are no weekend assignments — you’re free to expand on a weekday post, write something unrelated, or (gasp!) spend some time away from your blog.
- Each assignment includes a writing prompt and an optional “twist.” Prompts are your post inspiration for the day, while twists push you to experiment and stretch your writing chops.
- You can mix assignments up however you’d like. Respond to the prompt, and ignore the twist. Try the twist, but write on your own topic. Use both the prompt and the twist. The only mandate is that you write every weekday.
- Participants will have a private community site, the Commons, for chatting, connecting, and seeking feedback and support. Daily Post staff and Happiness Engineers will be on hand in the comments to answer your questions and offer guidance and resources.

hello there this sounds good so its more writing based, do you critique with this too? I tried to submit but it looked odd and went to a blank Daily Post page, could you check whether it worked for me properly please? x

You can share your posts and get feedback in the comments here or at the Commons, so you can get critique from all the participants.
Also, would you mind re-submitted the form? If it doesn’t work for you the second time, I’ll add you manually.

I won’t be registering, as I don’t have problems coming up with subjects most of the time but I will be keeping an eye on it. Great to see improvements in DP over the years! I remember when it was simply a daily blog post copying what Plinky suggested for that day.

It was actually Plinky copying The Daily Post — we run both 🙂

Also — you may want to give it a try and just focused on the “twist” part of each day. Up to you, though! The assignments will be here, so you can peek in whenever you’d like.

That’s the intent, and part of the reasoning behind splitting up the prompts and the twists — making it modular so it will work for all kinds of bloggers.

Looking forward to this challenge. I haven’t completed entirely the zero to hero challenge but participating Blog U gave me more knowledge about blogging. In fact, my traffic and followers were not just tripled..from single digit followers to 47 in a month and plus 500+ views:),
