Community Pool

The place for feedback, advice, and friendly blogging chatter.

Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Did you recently start your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?

The Community Pool is for peer feedback and advice. Looking for more specific information? Check out some of these resources:

Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).

To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips you might find useful:

  • While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
  • The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once!
  • If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
  • We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother.
  • Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
  • To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.
  • If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
  • No running on the deck.

  1. Hey again all,

Loving all the positive feedback that everyone is giving to each other. Its amazing to see how selfless people are.

I started blogging about a month ago and I thought I would ‘throw myself in the ring’ (again)and see your thoughts.

Also I have started a new series on my blog called Sunday Stories – where I get a fellow blogger every Sunday to give me a quote they live by and the story behind it. I had had some amazing stories so far and cannot wait until Sunday. I would love each of you to get involved. All the details are on my blog

Much love and everyone keep smiling (and blogging)

    1. Your site is well-organized and easy to navigate. The header graphic is great for your blog’s theme. It made me wonder if you are the “weird” guy in the middle of the crowd 🙂 Your About page clearly states the purpose of your blog, nicely done. Not being a metal fan, I am not qualified to comment on your content. All I can say there is that you express yourself well. https://gracelead.co

    1. I like the core idea of your latest two posts. The writing was a little difficult to follow in places. For instance, in Lest We Forget, the second paragraph was all one sentence and a little confusing. If there is someone you know would could read your posts before you publish them, that might be helpful. You appear to have excellent points to share which can come through even better with a little adjustment in writing. https://gracelead.co

  4. Hello my fellow cyberspace bloggers! I just posted something new about facing changes, a quarter life crisis, and getting old. Told you I’m really random. It would be great if you guys could check it out and leave some feedback as I feel that helps newbie bloggers like me to figure out their writing style and audience.
    Thanks in advance. ❤

    1. Ciara…I was happy to visit your blog today. I’m not sure what you mean about being random. It seems that you are telling your visitors about your adventures so far. They are hardly random. Personally, I would be excited about the way your life is moving forward. At times in your writings you sound a bit disappointed. I hope you are not comparing yourself to others of you same age. You are how you are, and that’s period.

Also, you may want to check one image on your About page. It appears to be missing. It’s the bottom one.

Try living in the moment, and being thankful for your life so far, and as it is. I’m not sure what more you can expect. Try contentment!

      1. Thanks for the visit. I guess sometimes I feel that I’m all over the place when I’m writing because that’s how my mind is. If it doesn’t come off that way then that’s good haha.
I am pretty excited about the way everything is moving in my life right now. I have just accomplished two big goals that I’ve had for years and it’s amazing.
I guess I don’t see it as disappointment when I write it’s just my real feelings. I guess a lot of what I have been writing about lately are misgivings about all of the huge changes I am making. I’m still excited about them though. I guess I should make a post about all of the excitement I feel about going overseas, immersing myself in another culture, etc.
I’m definitely not comparing myself to other people my age. Well, maybe a little but it’s more along the lines of the differences of what I want and what they want out of life. I’ve always wanted different things out of life then most people and that doesn’t bother me. Everyone should live their life how they want because we only have one to live.
I did notice that when I went to the page…I’m not even sure what picture it is supposed to be but I will fix it.
I guess I’ve been so busy lately I haven’t had a lot of chances to live in the moment but, it is great advice.
Thanks for the visit and the great thoughts! 🙂

      2. Oh yes…do write about the excitement you feel about going overseas, immersing yourself in another culture, etc. Show us a few pictures of this new place where your going. Tell us something about the Peace Corps. That’s two posts at least.

    1. Bravo for taking the time to create a new place for students to find information. I noticed that you refer to your site as the new Wikepedia. I suppose it is in a way. However, when I saw Edit I got curious and clicked it. Maybe I’m missing something…it lead me to the old Wikepedia. Just a mention!

  6. I’m new-ish to WordPress and posted my first blog entry yesterday in response to the one word daily prompt from the daily post. If any one could take a look at it and just give me some thoughts and guidance I’d be grateful, thank you.

  7. Hey everyone,
I have been blogging for about 6 months now but have not experienced a lot of traffic to my blog. I sometimes think that my blog isn’t focused enough or does not have enough unique topics that I am writing about which is unfortunate because I put so much effort into this blog. I am starting to get discouraged but I don’t want to give up on my blog just yet so I was wondering if you could take a look at it and give me some advice on how to improve my blog and increase traffic to it.
Also, the header is a work in progress. I am constantly trying to make it better but my lack of creative talents and computer skills limits me. If you have any suggestions on how to make the header better or what pictures and images to include in the header I would love to hear from you. A little bit of background on the name, I chose Ellies Little Adventure because I was referring to the blog as the adventure. Whenever I ask people for suggestions on headers they always think it needs to have something to do with nature because of the adventure part but I am open to any suggestions that fit the feel of my blog. Thanks.

    1. I found your recent post enjoyable. Some things to consider on traffic. The most frequent suggestion is to find sites similar to some aspect of yours and put comments on some of their posts. This increases your visibility and makes it more likely to get some visits. If you’re hoping for comments, put questions to the reader toward the end of a post. Regarding your header, I like it the way it is. On your Tags, if I had written your most recent post, I would have put “letter to self” instead of letter. Another possibility is “How to give advice.” https://gracelead.co

  8. Hi all, I’m new to the whole blogging thing and I’d really appreciate some feedback on the couple of entries I’ve done so far (be gentle!)

Here’s my site for anyone who’s got a few spare minutes: https://findtherainbowsite.wordpress.com/

To be honest a lot of it is just random ramblings rather than a stunning piece of literacy, but it’s just a way for me to get a few thoughts out there without having to say them to someone face to face.

    Anyway, thanks for looking 🙂

  9. Hi I just set up my blog a few days ago:

    Welcome

It will focus on the Big F words. From the hard facts of the world of financial regulation and compliance to more light hearted ruminations on fine flavours, favourite films and anything else that may take my fancy.

I will be discussing issues which are of interest to me but this blog is not intended to be a monologue. My main aim is to stimulate discussion, exchange ideas and on occasion have a bit of a laugh.

    Any comments/feedback would be appreciated.
