Community Pool

The Community Pool is for those of you looking for feedback, whether on post ideas, writing, blog design and layout, or anything else.

If you have a post, page, or idea you want to bounce off someone, leave a comment. Your fellow bloggers can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).

Read on for the ground rules and to leave a comment . .

TIP: To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.

  • You’ll get the best feedback if you can be as specific as possible about what you’d like people to respond to or where you’re struggling. If you simply leave a link to your blog, it’s likely to be overlooked.
  • Please keep all comments civil and constructive. We’re here to help and support one another, not to beat anyone down.
  • If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
  • No running on the deck.

    1. I think if your audience is interested in the topic and engaged in your writing then they will read posts that are longer. I have written some posts that are 2,000 words and when a reader is hooked they will happily come on the journey with you.

    1. Dear Sourav Halder,
You have superb photography skills. Your photos are beautiful and unique, coupled with your explicit explanations and personal sentiments, you draw me into your experience and feelings. You are one brilliant writer and photographer (if I may). You successfully provided your readers an insight of the Western Indian culture.
      Brilliant 🙂

  1. Hi all, I have just started a creative writing blog: http://thetoucan.wordpress.com/
It has been going for literally just a few days but I have lots of material I would like to get up there.
I am after some feedback, the blog is basically a way for me to ‘preserve’ a huge pile of my old notebooks, writing, poetry, short stories and other creative inspirations – most of it is very old. What I would like to know is if readers are just more interested in the content (the creative writing) or if they want a dialogue of my feelings and take on it now including some background to the ‘story’?
All feedback is appreciated and if you have your own new creative writing blog, I would love to take a look and offer feedback too.
    Thanks
    The Toucan

  2. Hello! I’m new to blogging, really. My blog’s mainly my own poetry that spans over all sorts of different topics. I have been getting some attention, but really not a lot, and I’d very much like any and all constructive criticism about the blog from layout to content – anything and everything is welcome. Here is the link:

  3. Dear American-based bloggers,

I am probably what you’d call an American-o-phile (?) and have been brought up on American cinema and television for donkey’s years. As a pop culture commentator, I thought I’d blog about this with a bit of a self-deprecating tone, with the aim of poking fun at myself. However, I’m concerned that this post may come across as unappreciative of Australia’s education system in comparison to America’s. (I don’t think that either country is better than the other, but I do think Australia is lucky in many ways.)

Can you please let me know if:

    A) you find the post offensive in any way, and if so, which line evokes that response?
    B) Any part of the post is funny?
    C) Any other thoughts that come to mind? Both positive and negative?

You’re welcome to reply in the “Comments” section of the original post, or contact me at verbiageorwhat@gmail.com

As a pop culture commentator based in Australia, I thought I’d blog about this with a bit of a self-deprecating tone, with the aim of poking fun at myself. However, I’m concerned that a recent post may come across as unappreciative of Australia’s education system in comparison to America’s. (I don’t think that either country is better than the other, but I do think Australia is lucky in certain ways with regards to access to some things.)

I blog about books and have recently changed the theme to Twenty Fourteen – http://www.sharonsbooknook.com and I was after some feedback in regards to the following:
    1. Is it easy to find your way around it?
    2. Does it look good?
    3. Widgets, too many?
Any other suggestions or general comments would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you!

  8. Hi, I’ve had a blog page for a while, I started only posting my poetry and that was sporadic at best, but recently thought that I should use my writing in a more active way and not restrict my page to only poetry. Just hope for some feedback on my theme I’m calling “Notes From Paranoia” http://www.3skay.wordpress.com
