    2. First, I love the brain image–very catching and a good intro to your content. As someone who definitely has a nerdy streak and background in pop culture, I found your posts entertaining and engaging. I think you’ve found your niche.

If some of you could give me some of your precious time and read it out, it would be great help. Do let me know about the style of writing (except that i have some paragraphs way longer than usual). 4. Hi!
I just started blogging 2 weeks ago. I have been posting like mad and now I am starting to tinker with my site. I seem to have a scroll of death – should I be putting posts on different pages to help categorise them and help people find what they want? Here I am at http://healthfoodiemel.wordpress.com/ Help please! 🙂

    1. I am fairly new as well and I think you should definitely get rid of “the scroll of death”. I realized that after my blog more organized it was easier for potential and current readers to navigate around. On my site I used a menu at the top of the page with my different categories, but I’m sure there are other ways to do it.P.S. I enjoy your writing, keep it up!

      1. Aha yes I’ve just had a look at yours, the menu works well. Your site is really neat. I’ve put one in with an about me page but I need to sort out what my other pages should be called. My stuff seems so random at the moment. Glad you enjoy it though! Cheers 🙂

    2. You also might want to create a “Best of” page, where you can highlight your favorite or most engaging posts. That way no one will have to scroll endlessly or dive into archives to find your ‘best’

I’m not sure what you mean your current us of the Bushwick theme, but it looks great. The only downside to Bushwick is that the sidebar isn’t visible, and unless the reader knows to push the button, they won’t be able to find other pages on your site. On the other hand, if you just have all of your posts in one spot, which you do, I think it’s fine! I really like the picture you have too!

  6. Hello everyone, I have rebuilt my blog several times and in February I started over from zero. Believing to have found a style that suits me well this time. But what do you think is missing in my posts and pages? Do I need to write more to tell the story behind my photos or do the photos speak for themselves? What is missing and what would make you come back? Please take a look and leave your comment on my about page. Thank you folks! -Mariska

    1. Do not give up on your blog! I enjoy post on technology but maybe make them shorter and concise. I have minimal knowledge where technology is concerned and I could still understand most of what you are writing about.

  9. My website is mostly dedicated to parents who are thinking of hiring me as an educational therapist, and I just added a blog to it. I would like to transform it into a place parents can go for information and support if they have kids with learning disabilities. I’ve been kicking around the idea of an Ask the Expert or Ask Diana page, which could either be a form that a parent fills out and I write them an answer, or could be more like a forum. I’d like it to be where other parents could see the questions and responses and maybe even join in on the comments or something. Any ideas of a) if y’all think it would work, b) which format would be best and c) any other thoughts or advice? http://Www.MindSparkLearning.com. Thanks all!

      2. okay, I’m always concerned about being confused-it takes me longer to process information now. I’d choose another theme. I wish you had more feedback so others could weigh in. For me at least, it was very confusing. I didnt know where to click and was unable to really focus due to so much going on. There are a few themes that have a circle or simple square. They are rows so it adds a bit of organization and less clutter.

    1. Hey, well done on having your comic book published. That must be so exciting, I can’t even imagine.

I did find the comic excerpt amusing – I think we’ve all met someone like that!

I like the theme you’ve chosen for your blog – plenty of white space which showcases the illustrations of the comic. What might be nice also, is if you have a header image that features some of these illustrations – for example, these illustrations might be of music, skating and film icons? That will let the reader know immediately what kind of blog they’ve landed on – and what differentiates you from everyone else (i.e. the fact that you’re an artist who can draw). And what kind of audience doesn’t love awesome illustrations? I know I love them!

I was also thinking of drawing some illustrations to put in my blog’s header, but my blog is about pop culture commentary and I wondered if that would be inconsistent with my brand. I also have to get around to experimenting on that… I need images, too.

If you have any thoughts for my blog I more than welcome them.

Happy blogging and cheers from Australia! 🙂

      1. Thank you so much for your positive/constructive feedback! I will take your advice on adding my icons on my blog header that capture my interests in music, skating & film.

As for your blog, I really like the layout you used. Like the font selection you used for the categories on your header. My suggestion for you would be to move the follow button to where the title is so it can be more accessible for people to follow you. Also, going back to what you said about adding illustrations, I say that is a great idea! If your an artist you should draw something colorful for the background to grab people’s attention and make a collage of celebrities, icons, memes, etc. and put it in the background of the header. Here is an example… http://www.google.com/search?q=pop+culture&client=safari&rls=en&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ei=It5VU6HHJ7jNsQT8t4C4CQ&ved=0CAgQ_AUoAQ#facrc=_&imgdii=_&imgrc=iKMApZ0cnZqJgM%253A%3BeIrIBhSIEa60qM%3Bhttp%253A%252F%252Fwww.fazzino.com%252Fpop-culture-art-gallery%252Ffazzino-pop-culture-art-rockin-1960s.jpg%3Bhttp%253A%252F%252Fwww.fazzino.com%252Fpop-culture-art%252F%3B1200%3B806
You can either make a collage using random photos or try to redraw all of the people/objects.

If you do not want to deal with the complexity of making artwork, you can change your background to a bright yellow colour (like the one I used for the title page of my comic book). Usually webpages with eye-popping colours get more attention and make you stand out from the rest!

If you have any more questions, feel free to ask me!
FYI I subscribed to your blog I kindly ask can you return the favour?

        ¡Muchas Gracias! (Thank you)
