Community Pool

The Community Pool is for those of you looking for input, whether on post ideas, writing, blog design and layout, or anything else. If you have a post, page, or idea you want to bounce off someone, leave a comment. Your fellow bloggers can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).

Read on for the ground rules and to leave a comment. Zero to Hero folks, head to today’s forum thread to chat about the assignment, but feel free to seek other feedback here!

  • You’ll get the best feedback if you can be as specific as possible about what you’d like people to respond to or where you’re struggling.
  • Please keep all comments civil and constructive. We’re here to help and support one another, not to beat anyone down.
  • If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
  • To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.

    1. Hi fais153, I’ve been reading lots of other peoples blogs and following them. It’s great because you get lots of interesting ideas and different perspectives. They may follow you too if they like your blog! Hope that helps.

  1. Hi all, i started my blog less than two weeks ago and already have half given up. I started the zero to hero challenge but with everyday life and being a full time mum it seems I don’t have the time to keep up with it all. The point in my blog was to tell everyone about my bay trend: the art of buying high street brands for under £5 it was also to tell everyone about all the ways to save and about everything else that’s interesting in life, problem is I’m not sure it’s interesting enough. Helpppppppp please?

    1. Well, there is no real way you can know if somebody is really interested in what you are writing, unless you can talk to them. And in blogging, the only way to get people talking is to be resilient and keep blogging, I think. You’r topics of street brands and saving sound good, you just have to persevere 🙂 hang in there! I have only started recently and that’s my attitude to my own blog.

      1. You’re welcome. 🙂 I’ve hear it said that the difference between achieving and not quite getting what you wanted is the ability to ‘just keep going’ (jkg, a good mantra!). Best of luck!

    2. I was the same and I do wax and wan a lot. Now I just get one idea a week and base my post around it. As for readership, I agree, but let’s face it, the competition is fierce. Ask yourself what are the reasons you are doing this for. In my case it is to pursue my love of writing, plus hopefully make a few peoples day. Best of luck.

  2. I have also been having mixed thoughts about my blog. I have very limited readership and I honestly don’t really know where I want my blog to go, which is why there is usually a huge gap in posts. I want my blog to be about the things I love in my life, but I love so many different things that I am thinking I should focus on just one. If anyone has any advice on this I would appreciate it.

I am also looking to get on some kind of regular posting schedule. I am considering aiming for one day a week until I get used to it and then maybe going to two days a week. I am just not sure what is interesting enough to other people that they would want to read about it.

    1. My blog is all over the place as well. I think the secret is to post regularly on things that your interested in, that will bring your blog to life.
Another important question to consider is, why are you writing your blog? If it’s for you then it’s what you want it to be. Don’t get hung up on readership, that will come if the content is there.

  3. I activated the WordPress app on my iphone. Now I get WordPress comments sent to my phone but they no longer appear in my emails…Is this an either or situation? I’d prefer they come to both but would choose email over iphone notifications. Comments? Suggestions?

  4. This year has been my intro to blogging and participating in zero to hero has really helped my steep learning curve.
I’m experimenting with voice and the kinds of things I want to blog about – so have tried observations / thoughts based on things during my day, work related and photos.
I’ve had likes and a few comments but would really appreciate more comments to learn from – what specifically seems to work and not work for people.
I’d really appreciate the thoughts of others no doubt much more experienced than me!
    Thank you…..in anticipation
