Community Pool

The Community Pool is for those of you looking for input, whether on post ideas, writing, blog design and layout, or anything else. If you have a post, page, or idea you want to bounce off someone, leave a comment. Your fellow bloggers can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).

Read on for the ground rules and to leave a comment . .

  • You’ll get the best feedback if you can be as specific as possible about what you’d like people to respond to or where you’re struggling.
  • Please keep all comments civil and constructive. We’re here to help and support one another, not to beat anyone down.

  1. Hi everyone, I have made this blog for my English assignment, as it says in my ‘about’ section. I would love for you guys to check it out and let me know what you all think. Thanks! 🙂

    1. I like the posts, but the visual side doesn’t really go with it – just by looking at your blog I wouldn’t guess it’s about sports. You could definitely pick a livelier/more colorful theme 🙂
      Have fun!

  2. I’m interested in knowing if people here think I should collapse most of my latest blog posts into an excerpt or just leave as is. I have the full posts so that people don’t have to click, but really I don’t know the true preferences of readers of how they prefer to navigate/discover new blogs/understand a blog’s focus.

    1. I think it would be good if you could collapse the posts so that readers can browse through your blog more effectively. Readers will click on and read more of the post that piques their interest for sure. 🙂

      1. Anna,
I appreciate that you had a look at my blog. Basically it’s about my journey to the United States. I believe that all the experiences I’ll have on my way to the US would be an inspiration to many so I wanted to share some events that had an impact on me. I’m too lazy to maintain a paper based journal for recording it so I decided to start a blog. I’ll keep in mind to post related stuff. But most of the times the events are not directly related to the main topic.

  3. I just have to say, I was a little disappointed with WordPress & “Freshly Pressed” that you barely, if at all picked blogs this past Veteran’s Day who HONORED & Blogged TRIBUTES to all our Military and Vets. What’s Up with That? I made a point of checking Freshly Pressed to see the different blogs & bloggers Tributes???…..and Nothing? What happened?

    1. Thoughts – I dig the header!
Suggestions – more about who you are (maybe even just have the text to that post you link included in the about page instead of a link) in your about page, but really I’m nit picking because you blog seems pretty straight forward! 🙂

  5. Hi! I’ve been working on my health and fitness blog at fittwist.wordpress.com for a few weeks now. I’ve gained a few followers but I don’t have any specific review on the material I’m posting. Any concrete feedback would be appreciated.

  6. I will travel around the globe for 8 months, starting january. I’ve started a blog (launch in january) about my travel, and I need input on design and writing from you blog-gurus. Is my subject clear, and is it easy to read?? Any other input would be much appreciated as well.

  7. Is it okay if I broadcast my views on sensitive topics, get a bit hot-headed about it, and then apologize and say that I meant no actual offence to anyone? will it be”alright”?

    1. It is absolutely fine! Everyone is entitled to their opinion aslong as it dosn’t completely degrade a particular person or target a specific person then it is fine but, be careful to state your intentions clearly and be warned you may lose some of your audience.

  8. Heya, I’ve been blogging for a couple of weeks, I write for myself, though it’s gratifying when people have a read. I guess blogging is like cooking, the chef enjoys the process of preparing and tasting the meal, and the diners are his work comes to fruition.
