Community Pool

The Community Pool is for those of you looking for input, whether on post ideas, writing, blog design and layout, or anything else. If you have a post, page, or idea you want to bounce off someone, leave a comment. Your fellow bloggers can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).

Read on for the ground rules and to leave a comment . . .

  • You’ll get the best feedback if you can be as specific as possible about what you’d like people to respond to or where you’re struggling.
  • Please keep all comments civil and constructive. We’re here to help and support one another, not to beat anyone down.
  • If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
  • To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.
  • No running on the deck.

  1. This was one of my first attempts at poetry. I don’t know the rules or guidelines or proper structure. I just went with my heart. I’m proud of it but I’d love to know if other folks are moved by it at all. Thank you :). http://wp.me/sVHMq-found

  2. Happy Sunday, Blogging Friends!
I have a little over 100 followers and recently reached 500 likes. To celebrate, I am doing a giveaway on my blog. Although 30 people have read it already, only two people “entered” by making a comment.
    1. Are my rules too much?
    2. What could I have done differently?
    3. Have you ever done a giveaway and if so, what do you think made people want to enter?
    Thanks!

  3. Please read this post http://oddinklings.wordpress.com/2012/11/20/funny-thing-happened-at-the-supermarket/ I’d love to know what people think.
Also what do you think of the whole of my site (I’m reluctant to say blog because it’s more than that) in general?
Does the content seem to blend well?
Would it be better if there was a clearer focus?
Finally please give me any thoughts you might have, and if they are negative please don’t hold back.

  4. Can someone take a look at my posts, and tell me what they think? Good or bad, as long as its honest. I am new at blogging and I am not sure if I am doing it right. Thanks

  5. Hey fellow bloggers! I am a brand new blogger with only 2 posts at the moment. Working on others, but like to feel done with one, before I move on to the next. I’m asking for your input on my second post called “Letting go…” It discusses when your child leaves home whether off to college, new job, gets married, etc. I have wrestled with this one for some time, and even after posting it, I’m still fighting with myself about how I wrote it. I’m wondering if it would have been better to have written it totally in the first person telling MY story. I want the content to be effective, but not overly in a self-help way. I also want to connect totally with the reader, because the post was a result of reading so many of my Facebook friends’ agony over leaving their children at college for the first time.

I’d just like some overall helpful opinions in whatever you see that I might do better when writing my next topic.

    Thanks so much,
    Jules1224

  8. Hey everyone I would like some feedback on my blog. I am just starting out with sports reporting and have posted for a few weeks now and would like some feedback on what else I should write about. Right now its mostly football, I hope to change that as I get better at writing. If you could check it out and lend some feedback that would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much!

  10. Please! Upgraded to a ‘Custom’ today and lost my comments, widgets, etc.
Checked widget settings and still blank (text is missing on posts). The headings are there but no content underneath. For instance “Blogs I follow” is now blank, “Comments” nothing there either except maybe a gravatar but no text. Also, even when it was there it us all spread out and at the bottom. Too much blank space. How can I tighten it all up? Thanks!
