Posts here on The Daily Post run the gamut from widgets to photography to social networking to grammar: anything and everything that might boost your blogging prowess. We’ve got lots more ideas up our sleeves, but we thought we’d check in with you — what questions do you have?

We’ve got a talented group of bloggers contributing to The Daily Post, and we want to know how we can support you to reach your blogging goals. Do you want to learn more about customizing themes? Interested in pet photography tips? Trying to figure out if you need a Tumblr in addition to your blog? Want to explore different poetic forms?

Ask away! If we don’t know, we’ll track down someone who does — we’ve got friends in bloggy places.

We’re not going to be answering questions in the comments, but we will compile all your requests and use your needs to shape our calendar in the coming months. We’d ask that you keep your questions blog-related — either design, administration, or content — although between us, we’re also competent to answer questions about 18th-century French literature, Canadian Football League rules, drum n’ bass music, rabbit husbandry, gelato, and high-altitude mountaineering lore.

Help us help you! Tell us what you’d like to learn about in the comments below.

  1. I’m wondering how I can add a custom news block to my blog. I’m using the Oxygen theme, and in the demo, there’s a block above the listing of posts that automatically scrolls through post titles and images. How do I do that?

There’s no blog linked to your username and without a URL no one can provide an accurate answer to this question which is clearly a support forum question. WordPress.com and WordPress.org are completely separate and run different versions of the Oxygen theme.

If and only if you are referring to a free hosted WordPress.com blog post to this support forum https://wordpress.com/forums/

    1. Every theme is uniquely designed. Some are designed to allow for minimal HTML tags that can be used in comment boxes but most don not allow for any. One would would assume that’s to prevent spamming and opportunistic link dropping.

      1. I was spammed on MySpace and WLS (Not to the same degree as that wasn’t fuly html active either), I delt with it mysellf, why can’t I deal with it here? It would add so much more functionality and mae it more enjoyable.

Also, WP has a spam filter working right now, can the people who dveloped this also develop a new spam filter to get rid of any common html spam that would be posted in our comment sections?

  3. How does WordPress select the blogs in the recommended list? And are they ever-changing or statically the same for all eternity? Most of them are top-notch, so I can see why they were selected, but there are several in the list that seem underwhelming, at least to me. Just curious. 🙂
