Community Pool

The Community Pool is for those of you looking for input, whether on post ideas, writing, blog design and layout, or anything else. If you have a post, page, or idea you want to bounce off someone, leave a comment. Your fellow bloggers can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).

Read on for the ground rules and to leave a comment . . .

  • You’ll get the best feedback if you can be as specific as possible about what you’d like people to respond to or where you’re struggling.
  • Please keep all comments civil and constructive. We’re here to help and support one another, not to beat anyone down.
  • If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
  • To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.
  • No running on the deck.

  3. I would be grateful for some help.

I’ve been blogging for some five years…about where I live and what happens there…but I would like to improve my use of image.
I am fairly image blind – show me a road sign and I’ll spend half an hour wondering what on earth it it supposed to mean – and photographs to me are mainly a means of showing people what I’m writing about, but I’m aware that a lot of people respond to and expect illustration on a blog and would appreciate help on use of photographs in particular.

I would be glad if someone would help me get to grips with categories, too…I think I’m too micro…but the macro doesn’t spring immediately to mind!

And thank you in advance for any help you would be kind enough to give.

  4. hi friends – if you have a minute or two i could really use some assistance from people who don’t know me and therefore feel the need to try and guess the right answers – have 7 humour quotes on my blog and looking for 20 people who will jump in and tell me their top 1, 2 or 3 and which one they think should be taken off the list – anyone in? http://brettfish.wordpress.com/2013/09/29/the-great-brett-andy-survey-part-i

Just leave your response in the comments section on the blog and if you have a friend or would be up to sharing the link on your page to invite others to chip in that would be most amazing…

    thank you

    1. Lysa,

I like the new theme. Very clean, yet a little fun and funky. Just enough. It really allows the focus to be on the images. One thing, the text size is a little bit small. Not that I had any trouble reading it, but compared to the images, it is easy to overlook the text. My suggestion would be to balance those sizes a bit. Great camping post. Keep up the good work!

    1. I like the content and the idea that you have written about. It is very intriguing and has a lot of good supporting pictures. However, this was hard to read and stay focused in. The presentation is riddled with grammatical errors, spelling errors and generally confusing or illegible sentences. Sometimes I don’t get what you are saying.

  6. Hello everyone!

I am looking for feedback on my brand new writing blog http://thebenvelope.wordpress.com/

It is a contest blog and I am wondering how can I get people to comment on things instead of just taking notes of deadlines? I also am not sure why my ‘Like us on facebook’ button is not working.

I am just starting out, so any feedback is helpful. Thanks!

  7. I put this on the last community pool post but I think I arrived too late to the discussion. Story of my life 😉 Thought I’d give it another shot. I have been writing blog posts from the point of view of characters from my novel and would really love to know anyone’s thought. Are they engaging? Do those characters interest you? Make you want to know more about them? Here is one example:

All thoughts are so welcome. I’ve been blogging about a month and every day I’m learning. Thanks for taking the time. I really appreciate it!
I would be happy to return the favor and give feedback and ‘follows’ generously. I guess we’re all in this big WordPress gang together 🙂
    Many thanks, Poolers!
