  1. Hello! I’ve been reading through your posts and comments and I’m blown away by how supportive and generous you are with both your encouragement and suggestions. I have been blogging for awhile but just switched to a self hosted blog. I was contacted on Saturday to tell me one of my posts has been selected to be featured on BlogHer on Wednesday and now I’m freaking out a little that my blog doesn’t look up to par. If there are any suggestions you have, I would be grateful. Thanks so much!

  2. I’ve been blogging for about a year, but with my job a teacher, I have limited time to write. I’ve got a number of interests that I’ve written about (US politics, European politics, digital media, etc.), but with my lack of time, I’m wondering if I should focus more energy on one or two topics instead of a smorgasbord. If anybody has the time, do you see a topic or two that I seem to be stronger at than others? Should I limit myself, or continue what I’m doing? Many thanks in advance.

    1. With limited time, you should write about what interests you most. Blogging is your hobby; it should be enjoyable. (Besides which… you also seem to deal with politics when you’re writing about social media. Your blog is less of a smorgasbord than you seem to think.)

    1. I think your current theme works well for you. However, I’d recommend changing the background color from gray to green. The theme you use also seems to have a Theme Option to change your accent color. Again, that’s a chance to add more green (if more green would look good wherever the accent color would be put.)

  4. Hello all! So this is quite literally my first day as a blogger. I am completely new to this scene but i know it’s necessary as a famous writer hopeful! Also i believe it will be a good experience for me. That all being said, can anyone give me some helpful advice as to what to do and what not to do as a blogger???

    1. Hi. I really enjoyed reading your work and I find that you have potential in being a writer. Short-story writing suits you and you should write stories or reflective recounts with that length! Although short, the content is still rich.

However, you might want to add in a little more humour to your writing 🙂 Also, participating in Weekly Photo/Writing Challenges prompted by the Daily Post can also help you gain readers if you tag your posts appropriately! All the best to your future write-ups!

      1. Many thanks for taking the time to read my blog and to offer such constructive feedback! I definitely will take what you said and apply your suggestions. If you ever want to read some of my lighter material, check out the “Irregardless” section of my blog (www.kristijojedlicki.com):). Again, thank you, and I wish you all the best in all you do!

  5. I am very new to WordPress and blogging. My first question relates to appropriate tagging, and the use of categories. Example: Is “observation” too broad? If my categories and tagging were more appropriate, I may find an audience more easily? And, should I create a separate blog for different types of writing–say, for fiction, or poetry? (I created a separate photography one)…Or just let my blog be a hodge-podge writing experiment? Second question relates to my writing itself…”Rolling Stone: Grow a conscience” is my first attempt at writing with a distinct point of view (found in “commentary”). I enjoyed pushing myself out of my comfort zone. Feedback and tips welcome. Thanks!

    1. This piece has definitely piqued my curiosity! You’re starting pretty well. However, adding too much vocabulary might put off some readers. Do keep it balanced unless you’re writing something literary 🙂 Other than that, continue writing!

      1. Well, I am in the process of writing a book, and so sometimes I share some little parts out of it on my blog if I feel they are relevant to my daily life. Thanks for the feedback!

      2. I am hoping to have it finished by 2014, and published in 2014, and hopefully available as an e-book as well 🙂 I could only pray and hope it goes worldwide!

  6. Hi all, I have been really trying to get my act together and update on more of a consistent basis. I am trying to have almost three different feeds on the same blog, one for tech, one for my art, and one for personal musings. I am trying to keep the tech stuff focused on how tech spreads and affects culture and communication, and the developing societal norms associated with those changes. Any feedback would be a big help as I am just starting out.
    Thanks

  8. Hey everyone! I’m a first time blogger and wrote two blogs regarding finances – or rather, the lack thereof lol. I’d like some feedback on them and opinions on what I’ve written and if they strike a chord with any of you. I tried to keep them short and sweet, but I just couldn’t because I had too much to say on the subject. I welcome all honest feedback but please go easy on me, okay? I’m new to all of this and know that I have a lot to learn. 😉 I plan on writing blogs about many other topics but I started out with finances first. Thanks in advance to everyone who can help me out with some opinions and feedback! I’ll do the same for you guys as well. 😉
