Community Pool

The Community Pool is for those of you looking for input, whether on post ideas, writing, blog design and layout, or anything else. If you have a post, page, or idea you want to bounce off someone, leave a comment. Your fellow bloggers can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).

Read on for the ground rules and to leave a comment . . .

  • You’ll get the best feedback if you can be as specific as possible about what you’d like people to respond to or where you’re struggling.
  • Please keep all comments civil and constructive. We’re here to help and support one another, not to beat anyone down.
  • If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
  • To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.
  • No running on the deck.

  1. I’ve seen themes with white type on a black background. It’s looks soooo cool!! One theme was from “Twenty Eleven” (I think). But on the theme list it shows up as a regular black on white. How do you turn it around?

  2. Hiya! I just opened my blog last week and feel pretty new at this. Came across this page and I totally LOVE this opportunity.
OK, my blog is for stories and cartoons and stuff on life and faith, with humor inbetween. I would really really like you guys to check it out and see what I could add or change to make it good.
    It’s emmanuelpresents.wordpress.com
Hope you like it, and looking forward to feedback.
    Thanks!

  3. I’m new at blogging and just figuring things out little by little. Maybe you could offer some tips on how to make my blog look snappy.
My goal is to get in the habit of writing every day. It’s a secret blog, I haven’t shared with friends or family. I’m not too concerned about traffic at this point.
    Q’s.
Why don’t I see comments I’ve approved at the bottom of the post?
How does one put a text signature on photos?

  4. I wanted some feedback on something I wrote when I was in the eighth grade, 6 years back. It’s a short story and I was thinking of converting it into something more, maybe a full fledged novel. But I’m not very sure if that makes sense- whether the story’s good enough to pursue further, or should be left as a short story, or just forgotten altogether.
Any comments will be appreciated- positive or negative- preferably on the post itself.
    Thanks!

  5. Hi, I have been blogging for a little while now, but not posted a huge amount of stuff and not had a massive amount of reader interaction. I was just after a little general feedback and advice.

Any comments or feedback would be great (positive or otherwise as long as they are constructive) comments on content of post would be really helpful too.

  6. I’ve had my post since November. It covers a variety of topics I’m interested in, including book recommendations, politics, art, current events, etc. I don’t get much in the way of comments (I have 14 so far) or likes. As I stated in the about section, I was really looking forward to comments from readers. Is my blog to broad topic wise? Am I writing about things that only I find interesting? Any feed-back would be appreciated!

  7. Hi everyone! I have been writing my travel/adventure blog since November 2012 so it’s still pretty new. I have a new general layout and was wondering if this is effective and clear. Can you get an overall sense of what my blog is about within 30 seconds or are you left overwhelmed by content? Do the layout or topics of posts inspire you to click through and read on or is it lacking somehow? I have a steady readership but I receive minimal comments on my posts and only from a select few readers. Any ideas how to change this? Thanks in advance!

    1. I am someone who depends a lot on comments and feedback. Something you might want to try is directly asking people to comment on something. I read through several pages on your site and I didn’t see you requesting any feedback or posing any direct questions to your readership. It works! I love your site informative but not really a dialogue. I hope that helps.

  8. Hello!

I would love to get some feedback on my WordPress site. I run a site on the band Radiohead and I’m wanting to improve the site and would like to change the theme and layout to make the site easier to use. Any suggestions or criticism is welcomed.
