2013 is almost upon us, so what better time to make half-hearted promises to ourselves about things we’ll fail to do within a couple of weeks, because they weren’t all that important anyway? Only this year. This year is different. In this week’s writing challenge, we’re going to get resolute with our resolutions. Yes indeed, it’s time to… resolve!
To participate, tag your post with DPchallenge or leave a link to it in the comments. (It would also be great if you could link to this post to encourage people to take part – the more the merrier!) Your post should be specifically written in response to this challenge. We’ll keep an eye on the tag and highlight some of our favorite posts on Freshly Pressed on Friday.
Here’s the backstory for this week’s challenge: The tin-foil hat, Mayan apocalypse conspiracy people were wrong about the world ending in 2012. Hooray. Time for them to go back to watching grassy knoll footage in slow motion. BUT!
They were only half wrong. There’s a gigantic meteor hurtling toward earth at an alarming rate, and a 97.3% probability that we’re all going the way of the dodos and dinosaurs within three months. So, this year you aren’t going to make resolutions about losing a notch on your belt. You aren’t going to concern yourself about polishing off Remembrance of Things Past once and for all. You don’t even care a jot about emptying your email inbox. In three months, doompocalpyse is going to be upon us. So what are you going to do?
You’re going to do what any good blogger does. You’re going to blog some resolutions that matter:
Tell us about the three things you’d most like to change about your life, and make a bold, I-don’t-care-who-knows-it-because-there’s-a-meteor-a-comin’ assertion to the world that you are going to get these changes made. And that you’ll have at least started making them happen by March. When, erm, you’re probably going to wind up as dust.
Tag those puppies “DPchallenge,” and if you’re feeling especially into the whole scenario, “doompocalyptic-resolutions”. You can also link them on up in the comments. Get to work, it’s later than you think.

Can I ask a question? It may seem dumb, but I honestly don’t know the answer…What is the time frame on these challenges? (because I am always uncertain) Do I have a week? A day? A baktun?
Thank you a ton for your answer. There is must to change before the eradication of life as we know it….written from somewhere in the Kuyier Belt…Karen

I don’t make resolutions because they are made to be broken.
Instead I make goals…which I can work on throughout the year.
