Topic #271:
The 2011 Nobel peace prize was recently awarded to Tawakkul Karman, Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, and Leymah Gbowee of Liberia, all leaders in their respective countries for promoting civil rights.
For today’s topic, consider a local peace prize for your workplace, town or your community. Who in your daily world deserves to be recognized for promoting peace and good will?
If you can’t think of someone you know today, was there someone from your past who comes to mind?

You spell “deserve” wrong there buddy. I’m not so sure what good would you get if you intentionally did that typo. But if you want your fellow writers to pin-point that minor error, you did an excellent job.
I’m going to write my essay on this question later on after work. Thanks for the well-thought question. It keeps me thinking all day, giving me time to start asking my friends about it, share it with my family, research it a bit, then when I’m about to rock my bed, I will start writing on it!

Oops, no Nobel Prize for literature for Scott Berkun. Not such a big deal any more though. I’ve read two ebooks in a row with HORRIBLE typos. The worst was when I read Atlas Shrugged and there was several times some one asked “Who is John Gait?”

Barack Obama. There will always be mud slinging, Trying to find something in his past they can dig up. Now they say he was radical in his youth. Good grief we all were different in our youth. Dumb and stupid. He has changed a lot and was left in a mire of poo to clean up and it will not happen overnight.
Problem is politicians are best at “you scratch my back I will scratch yours,” leaving the population out in the cold. Read the People magazine page 129,
Sept 5th. and you will see that things can get done, unlike Katrina when Bush was in.

Sweet, I could use the money. I’ve got 3 under 3. Although, the twins turn 3 in a couple weeks. ALL GIRLS! Can I get two peace prizes? I need to have matching everything.
Hell, my wife deserves it more though, she took care of the twins for a year alone while I was in Afghanistan.

I’m going to suggest my wife’s grandparents. They took in 5 foster kids, bought them clothes, taught them to be free-thinking individuals. Her grandparents are devoutly Catholic, but one kid is gay, one got pregnant at 16 and they still love them to death. Peace price to Tom and Anita.

Beyond a doubt, Dr. Daisaku Ikeda, president of the grass-roots Buddhist peace organization, Soka Gakkai International, for his decades-long, unfailing devotion to achieving world peace through the teachings of Nichiren Buddhism: that every human being has the capacity to become enlightened and absolutely happy in life and that through each individual’s recognizing and actualizing this, we will achieve world peace. He has conducted and recorded dialogues with hundreds of political and religious leaders over the years and continues to send proposals to the United Nations, as well as write numerous articles and letters of encouragement on the daily practical means of achieving peace in our personal lives, our communities, our countries and in our lifetime. He is literally a life-mentor to millions of Buddhists who aim to create a more fulfilling, happier life and give back to humanity. http://www.sgi-usa.org

Well, I would go for my teacher Mrs. Hameeda. She is a living legendary but has not exposed herself. She deserves one for prevailing peace and keeping herself out of rapaciousness of power. All the votes for her!

My American Lit. I teacher Mr. Smith deserves a Nobel Peace Prize. His class this past spring was insightful and fun at the same time. Even when most of the students didn’t care about what we were reading, he still tried to get us to see the value in it. In addition, he was also a good mentor to me by critquing my poetry and recommending books for me to read when he found out how much I loved reading. He was one of those teachers who really cared about students and that’s something you rarely see these days.

There always seems to be one person first to send a million dollars to all the disasters of the world with no fanfair and that is Sandra Bullock.

Pregunta nada fácil de contestar. Peor si consideramos que todo es relativo. Sin embargo debe ser dura tarea para quienes tienen potestad de designar la persona Ad hoc.
