Sorry this post was delayed. I was still thinking about nothing from yesterday, and only now started thinking about something.
Topic #229:
Have you been to where your parents were born? What was it like? If you haven’t been, describe how you imagine it to be.

A Greek island situated between Crete and Rhodes, not many people know about it which is why I started the blog because I think everyone should experience what the island has to offer.

Hey! Thanks for the reply. My mom tells me about little shops they have, but that was 40 years ago. It might be all different now. But, It’s still exciting to think about.

My parents were both born in Biggar Saskatchewan. While my mom was born at the hospital in town, my dad was actually born on the homestead property. A piece of land that my grandfather received as part of his soldier’s grant after the WW1. While I wasn’t born on the property, but at the hospital in Biggar, I was raised on the same property. My grandfather living in one house, and our family home across the yard. It is unbelievably special to have grown up there surrounded by the family and the history.

I’ve had the most interesting experiences going to the places where my parents were born growing up. One is almost impossible to reach except by foot, and the other is a oceanside city that has made many great childhood memories.

I was born and raised in a housing project in Elizabeth, NJ called the Pioneer Homes. I grew up in apartment 11 E, my mom was literally born in the apartment next door (11 F). The apartment was nearly identical to the one my grandmother lived in across the courtyard.
The entire project was torn down in the late 90s, so even if I wanted to go back and embrace some sort of nostalgia…I can’t. Woe is me :).

My mother and father were born and raised in a small country town in South Carolina. I also was born and raised in the same town. I got married and moved away at age 19. My husband and I moved back to the same town 47 years later. The house seat where my mother was born and raised is under water and I don’t know the spot where my Dad was born and raised, I just know that he was raised in this same small town.
