Happy Theme Thursday, all! Let’s jump right in and say “Hello!” to four awesome new themes.
Outspoken, by new seller WPShower, is a premium magazine theme with loads of customizable features. Multiple front page configuration options allow you to tailor the presentation to your liking, while generous featured images let your visual content stand out.
Studio is a new, minimal, grid-based portfolio theme by Pixel Union, designed for photographers and curators. It’s simple, sleek, and powerfully flexible, pairing chiseled aesthetics with crystal-clear organization.
Enjoy a taste of Sorbet, a colorful, mouth-watering treat for your personal blog or website. Post formats highlight your best content, while secondary content remains tucked away in the header, allowing your posts to take center stage. If you’re seeking a fun, playful new look for your site, Sorbet is just the theme for you!
Ampersand is a clean and professional portfolio theme for creatives by Okay Themes. Featuring a minimal, responsive layout, Ampersand looks just as good on your mobile device as it does on your desktop.
Outspoken, Studio, and Ampersand are premium upgrades, while Sorbet is free. Check out each theme’s showcase by clicking on their screenshot above, or preview them on your blog from Appearance → Themes.

Sorbet is great! I’m thinking about changing theme…

I think Sorbet will be a success! Now I do not need a Tumblr. Just one thing: Sorbet has no “related posts”. I like it this way, but some people could use this feature.

Hello – I have a question not sure who to ask. I’m thinking about migrating my WordPress.com blog to WordPress.org to take advantage of more plug-ins and advertising. I would like to take my theme with me when I make the move. My theme is called The Blix Theme. http://www.FreshFoodinaFlash.com. Can I do this and how do I do that? Thanks for your response. Hi Patricia, there are a few ways to move your site to a self-hosted WordPress.org installation, which are outlined in our support document.
Blix is available for WordPress.org, although it hasn’t been updated in a long time so it may not work properly with the latest version of WordPress. It would probably be a good idea to look for a newer theme which has been tested with the latest version of WordPress.
If you need help with anything else, feel free to post in either the WordPress.com support forums or the WordPress.org forums, depending on the focus of your question. Good luck!

I agree that Sorbet really stands out, looking fresh and very “2014”. Certainly a #freemium theme, I’d say.

I’m now using Sorbet on my personal blog at http://thistimethisspace.com. I took the huge step of converting all of my categories to tags very reluctantly. I noticed that Syntax which I also love has the same thing ie. Tags but not Categories. I hope that tags only and no categories is not a trend.

Trying to add a custom background to Sorbet: all the text in the sidebar gets impossible to read, is that the way it is designed? I think it needs to have a solid white background marking the sidebar zone as in the posts section.

I am struggling to find a good free theme that will be faster to load and has good basic features. Can you suggest one to me?

Howdy! Try browsing the Theme Showcase, you can search for “minimalist” or “simple” themes there. Cheers!

I’m using Sorbet and customized it with headstand photos in the background and header. Very colorful! Will use it and alternate it with minimalist themes.
