Where in the World?

If you’ve ever wondered where on Earth all the visitors to your site are coming from, this feature is for you!

Mosey on over to your My Stats tab on the WordPress.com homepage:

…and check out the brand new “Views by Country” panel.
Now, you can see at a glance exactly which countries comprise your audience:

When you click on or hover over a country name, the map zooms in so you can really get a feel for all the parts of the planet your content has reached:

The Summaries page shows you country stats for the previous week, month, quarter and all time, but keep in mind this feature is new and views by country are not available prior to March 2012:

We are tremendously excited to be working on new features like this for your WordPress.com My Stats tab.  Stay tuned for the next evolution!

i’ve enjoyed the countries stat tremendously; is there a way to see a breakout by state for the US? If not, could be a really cool feature that I would love to see

This is great … it inspired the question — what about benchmarks? As a new blogger (<3 months), how does the number visits to my site compare to other new WordPress bloggers? To all WordPress bloggers? Are there benchmarks? Thanks!

This is a super cool feature! I’ve always wanted to know where visitors are coming from, but I didn’t want to have a little third party map thingy on my blog front page, so I just never did it. Now this lets me get all that info. Thanks, wordpress. ^ ^

    Keep up the great work!

    Jeff,

This is a great way for some people to learn geography but it can also turn into an addiction checking on how much of a world-wide impact you are making:)

Fantastic addition. The cartography training makes me say it: chloropleth maps shouldn’t be used for count maps. But I still love it. Recommendations? Dot density maps. Best.

This is a nice new feature for our stats pages. I like being able to see where my readers are coming from. And I like maps. I hope there will come a day when we can see where they came from and what links they followed. I hope that granularity may be in our future.

I like this, but it only works for today or yesterday. Any reason why you can’t access it by clicking the day you’re interested in viewing? All the other stats are accessible in this way. Or is that an option to be enabled once you see how popular this is?
