Bio
Steve Nachlas began his career in industrial electronic and electrical sales. Having studied engineering, design and advertising, he graduated the University of Texas with a Bachelor of Science degree in Communication. He then joined his family’s business, where he worked his way up to Sales Manager.
By 1985, the PC explosion was beginning, and Steve began his love affair with the computer. Unable to convince his family to purchase a computer for the business, Steve began to pursue self-education in the new computer technology. Shortly thereafter, he hired on with Houston Community College to teach technology seminars part time, but the Community College training soon became a full-time job.
With customers ranging from small business employees to Fortune 500 companies, Steve realized that he was receiving a large number of inquiries for consulting work. It was this interest that led to the founding of MicroTeach, Inc in 1986. While continuing his seminars at HCC for the next year, Steve’s new business was beginning to boom. MicroTeach offered customers a full line of training and consulting services, as well as hardware sales and network implementation. Steve also provided pro bono work for groups like the American Lung Association and the Lighthouse of Houston, while providing talks and seminars for associations like Women in Transition and the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants.
In 1998 Steve sold MicroTeach, and subsequently came to work for First American Title Insurance Company, who had been one of his largest clients. Today Steve is Director of Applied Technology for the Houston Division, and provides technology training seminars and consulting for both First American customers and its sales teams. In a typical year, Steve has had over 1500 Realtors attend his training classes.
A native Houstonian, Steve lives in west Houston with his wife, Amy, and their two dogs, Moo Goo and Gai Pan.
