Updating Plan domain name

    I am thinking of updating my plan to the Personal plan, I see that comes with a domain name, i understand that it doesnt just do it, and that some work is needed on my part… what would that involve?

    It would involve you upgrading your free site and when requested choosing a custom URL for your site.

    Hi! When you purchase a new annual Personal plan, it comes with a free domain credit. This credit lets you register a new domain name at no extra cost for the first year. After that first year, the domain simply renews at the regular yearly price.

    To use this benefit, you will need to claim the domain from your dashboard. Here is what the process looks like.

    1. Open your site’s dashboard.
    2. Go to Upgrades/Hosting and then select Domains.
    3. Choose how you want to use your free domain credit.
      • Select Search for a domain if you want to register a brand new name.
      • Select I have a domain if you want to transfer a domain you already own to WordPress.com.
    4. Follow the prompts to complete the registration or transfer.
    5. Once the domain is active, set it as your primary domain so visitors see it when they visit your site.

    Thanks for responding. So i get that for a year then the 2nd year I have the wordpress cost plus whatever it is to continue using the domain name?

    Yes, the domain is free for the first year.

    From the second year onward, you need to pay for the domain renewal as well as the cost of your hosting plan/WordPress plan.
