Changing username

    Hi guys,
    I’m new here, I’ve just registered to the platform. The problem is that I’ve made a mistake choosing the domain name of the website of one of my clients as my username in the registration form. Is it possible to change the username now? Please, keep in mind that I’ve already done some of the settings of one of the website’s plugins related to this username and I don’t want to lose that information. Thank you in advance!

    Hello!

    So you want to change your WordPress username, as in what you login to WordPress with? Or your display name? Either way, this article explains how to change either.

    To change the public display name:
    Go to your My Profile page
    Enter your name under Public Display Name
    Click Save Profile Details

    To change your actual username:
    1. Log into WordPress.com using your existing username
    2. Access your Account Settings and enter the username you want under Username.
    3. In the box Confirm Username that appears, enter your new username again
    4. The next step will allow you to change or create a matching blog address (which I believe you don’t want to do, you just want to change the username, not the site address.

    Selecting “No, don’t create a matching address.” will just change your username and make no changes to the address of your blog.

    Read the information presented on this page very carefully. Important: You will not be able to change your username back. The old name will be reserved and no one will have access to it. URLs for other services such as Gravatar may be affected.

    Click Save Username to save your changes and update your username.

    These are just the steps, but I would read that article yourself to make sure you know what you want to do.

    Thank you very much! It works perfect now. I tried to change my actual username yesterday but Username field was inactive. I suppose the reason is that my account was not activated. Cheers!
