Setting up the Home Page Template

  1. Create a Page, preferably titled “Home.”
  2. Set the Home Page template within the Page Attributes module.
  3. Navigate to My Site → Customize → Static Front Page.
  4. Choose the option to display a static page for the Front page.
  5. Select your newly created “Home” page from the Front page drop down list.
  6. Click the blue Save button.

Homepage Featured Content Slider

  1. Add a Tag to the Posts you wish to display in the Slider, e.g. “featured.”
  2. Navigate to My Site → Customize → Featured Content
  3. Enter the name of the Tage.g. “featured.”
  4. Click the blue Save button at the bottom.

Once a Tag name has been saved, posts having this tag will appear in the featured content slider. You can specify an image to be displayed with each post by setting a featured image. The suggested size for featured images is 980 pixels wide and 520 pixels high.

To have a text excerpt appear in the slider post with the featured image mentioned above, type an excerpt in the Excerpt field. You can find this field below the content area on the Edit Post page. If you do not see the Excerpt field, you will need to click the Screen Options tab on the top right of the Edit Posts page, and check the Excerpt box (see photo below).

Homepage Content AreasPurpose Theme Options

  1. Navigate to My Site → Customize → Theme
  2. Choose the pages you would like to appear on the homepage using “Featured Page One,” “…Two,” and “…Three.”
  3. Choose the category from which you would like posts to appear on the homepage by selecting that category in the “Featured News Category” drop down menu. Then type the number of posts you would like displayed in “Featured News Posts Displayed.”
  4. Click the blue Save button at the bottom.

You can specify an image to be displayed in the background of each “Featured Page” post by setting a featured image for that post.

Note: You may notice the four columns listed on the “Who We Are” portion of the home page in the demo (and the screen shot above). This can be achieved by using the following code in the Text Editor:

Setting Up a Blog Page

Setting up a Blog Page is very similar to setting up a Home Page.

  1. Create a Page, preferably titled “Blog.
  2. Navigate to My Site → Customize → Static Front Page.
  3. You should already have the option to display a static page under “Front Page Displays.”
  4. Select your newly created “Blog” page from the Posts page drop down list.
  5. Save the changes.

Note: The Profile Image and Information in the right sidebar can be added or changed by navigating to My Site → Customize and then clicking Theme.

Using the Slideshow Page Templatepurpose-slideshow

  1. Create a Page.
  2. Set the Slideshow template within the Page Attributes.
  3. Click Add Media to upload your images to the page.
  4. Once uploaded, select Uploaded to this page from the drop down menu in the Media Library tab.purpose-slideshow2
  5. You may then drag and drop the images in the order you like.
  6. Close the Insert Media window and Publish or Update the page. When you view the page, the slideshow should now appear showing the photos you uploaded.

Note: You do not need to insert the slideshow images into the page itself. Images uploaded to the Media Library of the page will automatically be added to the slideshow.

Three-Column Page Template

  • When creating a new page, choose the Three Column template in the Page Attributes module.
  • Be sure to add Widgets to both Left Sidebar and Right Sidebar under My Site → Customize → Widgets.

Setting up the Portfolio Template

  1. Create a Page, preferably titled “Portfolio.”Creating a Portfolio Page
  2. Select Portfolio within the Page Attributes module, under “Template.”
  3. You can specify an image to be displayed in the background of the Portfolio page by setting a featured image for that page.
  4. Click the blue Save button.
  5. To add Portfolio posts to the page, click on Portfolio in the left-hand main admin navigation.
  6. Click Add New.
  7. Add a title and content.
  8. You can specify an image to be displayed for each Portfolio post by setting a featured image for that post.
  9. Click the blue Save button.
