Monster Theme

Dress up your blog with Monster, a spooky Halloween theme featuring all manner of goblins and ghouls to spark your imagination. In addition to a frightfully festive and responsive design, Monster supports one custom navigation menu, custom headers and backgrounds, and even a theme option to change the monster in the header! Read on to find out how to make the most of Monster.

Pick Your Monster

In the spirit of the season, Monster has a few tricks and treats to share, if you’re clever enough to find them. Dig a little and you may unearth some secret monsters!

There are six monsters for you to choose from: Frankie (default), Vampire, Spider, Jack-o-lantern, Demon, or Skull. You can see how they look in the screenshot below. To set them up, go to My Sites Customize Theme Options and choose the monster that you want to display on your site.

Custom Menu

Monster supports one custom navigation menu, the Primary Menu in the header, which can be configured by going to Customize Menus.

Custom Header and Background

You can configure an optional flexible-height custom header by going to Customize → Header Image.  Likewise, you can change the background image or color by going to Customize Colors & Backgrounds.

Widget Areas

Monster includes one widget area, the Sidebar, that can be configured in the Customizer by going to Customizer Widgets → Sidebar.

Full-Width Page Template

Monster includes a full-width page template that removes the primary sidebar, giving your content more room to strut its stuff. Select the Full Width, No Sidebar template when you publish your Page.

  1. The main column width is 683 except in the full-width layout where it’s 936
  2. The primary sidebar width is 193
