Custom Header

Adaline takes advantage of the Custom Header feature. The recommended dimensions are 1400 pixels wide, and at least 404 pixels high.

The header at full width (beyond 1400 pixels wide) has dimensions of 1400×404, assuming there is only one line of text for both the site title and site description.

The image will stretch regardless, but you may want to upload a slightly taller image if you have more than one line of either site title or site description.

Featured Images

Adaline makes liberal use of Featured Images for posts. On Adaline, two image sizes — a “rectangle” size (700×350) and a “square” size (350×350) — are used prominently.

The square size is especially important, as it’s displayed with each post on all the blog and archive pages, along with the row of four featured posts below the first featured post.

The “rectangle” image is reserved for the first featured post. Featured content is covered later in the setup guide.

It’s recommended that you add a featured image to every single post, if possible, to get the most out of this theme.

Featured Posts

Adaline has a featured post area that’s displayed directly below the header on the main posts page.

  1. Navigate to My Sites → Customize.
  2. In the Featured Content panel, enter the name of a tag.
  3. Make sure your selected tag is assigned to at least five posts, otherwise nothing will display in the Featured Content area.
  4. Click the “Save” button.

Widgets

Adaline features four areas to place Widgets: one in the sidebar and three for each footer column.

Primary Menu

Adaline features a primary navigation menu location that is revealed by a “hamburger” toggle button visible in the top right corner of the theme.

This panel will display a list of pages by default, but you can replace it with a Custom Menu by selecting the “Primary Menu” location.

Color Scheme

You can switch to one of the packaged color schemes via the Customizer.

  1. Navigate to My Sites → Customize.
  2. In the Colors & Backgrounds panel, select a palette.
  3. Click the “Save” button.

Since Adaline operates at a 1400px max width, visitors won’t be able to see the background unless their browser window is wider than that.

Site Logo

Upload your own Site Logo in Adaline.

In the Customizer, upload your logo image. The image will be cropped to 236×236 and then displayed in the theme at 118×118 to account for retina screens. We suggest uploading a square image larger than 236×236 for best results.

Social Links

Adaline features a Social Links Menu location in the footer.
