創業小教練

最近一年,有意無意地接觸到不少創業的朋友和組織,各種形式都有:從同朋友隨便聊聊個人理想,聽已創業人士傾談他們的心得,幫創業團隊整理他們的基本理念,建議小型公司的一些日常業務問題,到幫忙start-up做他們的mentor.

有無幫到他們我不敢講,因為要講都應該是他們講,只係有一件事我可以肯定,我自己學咗好多嘢!

我自己在大型公司都算有少少管理經驗,但是沒有創業經驗,有時都會問自己憑什麼幫創業團隊?這個問題比較似運動教練自己是否需要係運動員,每個人見解都可以好唔同.不過肯定嘅係,唔係所有好教練都打個波;唔係所有壞教練都未打過波!所以與其爭拗這個大方向問題,不如諗下自己點樣可以做好啲.

另外,坊間現在有好多一些自稱天使投資者,更多組織提供incubator/accelerator的課程,又出錢又出力,當然亦有好多義工形式嘅mentor.到底mentor在呢個生態環境扮演緊咩嘅角色呢?更加緊要嘅係,點樣先算一個好嘅mentor.

我覺得mentor,特別係做關於創業的,一定需要有一個學習的心.不可以覺得自己經驗比創業者豐富(不管什麼經驗),就只顧住不停俾意見.因為新成立嘅公司,特別係成功的,本來就係一個不停演變;不停學習的'生物'.

另一方面,mentor應該了解他自己不是什麼問題都可以幫忙解決.非常緊要的是,遇到不清楚不肯定嘅問題,應該當機立斷講自己唔識,唔好囉囉嗦嗦講一輪無關痛癢嘅嘢,因為除了浪費大家時間在一些自己不懂的事情,更重要是少了機會講真係識嘅嘢!

而識嘅嘢我覺得有3部分:

1.專業技術-例如mentor係律師,會計師,或者係創業團隊經營的行業專家.唯一一提是IT,因為好多時新公司對電腦嘅需要係非常的specific,好多有經驗做mentor的IT人可能已經做了好耐管理層,對最新同天天應用嘅系統未必幫到手.

2.商業技術-mentor無論係什麼背景,他們的工作經驗一定令他們有很多這方面的經驗.例如如何整理和分析問題,如何溝通,平息爭拗,時間管理,如果聆聽別人想說的事情,對'人'的理解和判斷,等等.呢啲有些人會形容做soft skills,又或者有一些人會覺得好'吹水',本人覺得這些技巧其實一點點都不soft,非常實在,非常有系統,非常有技巧.只不過好多時mentor雖然有好多嘢方面的經驗,但是他們不一定懂如果有系統地溝通他們的經驗;當然亦都會有mentor討論這些議題時太沉醉他們自己的成功,忘記創業團隊想要的是什麼.

3.心路歷程 - 亦都可以是一些人生道理,不過除非mentor同創業團隊已經有比較深嘅關係,否則後果不會高.
