Slice of Hutong Life

Simple as it is, I love hutong life. While I understand that the homes here aren’t all that comfy, I do see that modern conveniences have wiped out the community, replacing it with alienation all too often.



This cart of some sort of vegetables is left out to dry in the hutong (alleys). The photo’s rather shadowed and can be part of this week’s Challenge: Shadowed .


Winter at Xihai

I’d been meaning to revisit the charming little patch of Beijing that is Xihai, and finally did so yesterday. Strolling around there was a nice reminder that no-one does winter fun quite like Beijingers do!
